A little truckstop on Wimer, TX 1 mile south of the Loves in Hutchins. Found myself another secret spot in the area but wanted to check here to see if I could grab a spot so I could grab my morning cup of Joe before rolling. There were 2 spots left. Headed to Bentonville Ar in the morning then dead heading to Springfield Mo to grab a load to Houston. From there I will decide to go home a day early or try to find a local run for some extra cash since I will be taking 5 days off

I know the feeling, I never liked working clean up. I will really stretch her out when the road allows it, but it takes me forever to get her stretched you know what I mean I'm sure.

I'm parked at the house till after Christmas. I have a lot of paper work to do. Got some done today, took the farm plates off my red and black truck and put K plates back on it. Got to do my DOT psyical Tuesday. Course still got Christmas shopping to do which I will put off till Wednesday like I do every year. I thought at 39 I wanted to slow down a little, turns out I'm not ready yet. It sure felt good putting my numbers back on the ol red and black Pete.

Wore Out I have a question. Running exempt, what all numbers do you run? USDOT, MC? Just curious.

You have to run DOT and pay fuel tax in each state you run. A lot of things I haul are not exempt unless used in livestock or poultry feed. That being said my farm plate was only good in Arkansas cause I am a carrier not a farmer. I am not sure what would have happened if I was caught especially in Missouri. Texas and La usually choose to turn a blind eye lol.
I have an MC number because of fertilizer, frac sand etc. To give a direct answer to your question you must have a US DOT number and either apportioned plates or single state plates with trip permits to run exempt. Also your insurance has to meet the minimum motor carrier requirements. Which most brokers require more anyway.

    FatDaddy Thanks this.

Gotcha. I've seen a bunch of the guys with a rack that just had a USDOT number and their name. Course they had the IFTA stickers and stuff too. Cool deal. Preciate the comeback.

That's all I run on the red and silver truck. I have seen several reefers with just the DOT and name I reckon most reefer freight is exempt too but not sure I never pulled one. My goal is to hook to a Great Dane with a shiney hiney someday.

I hear that. I got a Utility with a shiny hiney hooked up right now. Yeah the folks I'm leased to pull a lot of general freight do we have all the numbers. I've seen a bunch of them out around Salinas and Yuma that just had DOT numbers. No MC numbers. Not real sure bout exactly how that works. I bet ol hand or Mike may know.

I dont understand that part I noticed a long time ago my company only displays DOT #'s none of the others like ky thought those where required. Now i have never had anyone say or ask about them. I run flat since you talking about exempt is why no other Numbers i am really confused.

Yeah I don't know all the ins and outs myself. Especially on flats, other than some hay I haven't pulled one. If you seen how the tail of my strap turns out you would laugh for a week lol

I do know that with my cow wagon I don't have to have the KYU number unless I pick up and deliver intrastate in Kentucky. I used to run out of north Kentucky to Denver quite a bit when I was younger
