Only if you were trucking thru downtown (on a local delivery, of course) and were stupid enough not to tune in a traffic report before going anywhere in Atlanta any time. Heard about it on the radio in my pickup on the way for my DOT medical. Good news, the doctor says probability is high that I won't drop dead behind the wheel for two more years LOL.

On a side note, it seems Garmin has (finally!) improved how their gps deals with local delivery restrictions. Not sure if it's a "feature" of my new 760, or coincidental to a recent map update. Used to be it would offer the shortest possible exit from a local restriction, often not a route that made sense. Take a better route and I'd have to mute the thing not to hear endless truck warnings until safe outside the perimeter. This last delivery to the East Point Kroger (in and out in 2 hours, not tellin my secrets!) my new one routed me straight down 85 (as it should) with no complaints. Then back thru downtown to park on the NE side, again not a peep or any big X's on my chosen route.

It's not a matter of price... not for me at least... I drive a co. truck... If co. has to send roadside assistance to fix something that happened because I was following their directions, so be it... that will teach them a "lesson"... and it's not going to be the first time that I do as I was told by co. and let them pay the price.:biggrin_25512:

What my co. tells us is to keep our deisel and DEF tanks full when we are parked under very low temps. so fuel will not freeze up and not to use anything else in the fuel tanks.

Never had any problem with my current co.... :biggrin_25512:
but with my former one, I told them that truck would freeze up if I didn't idle under freezing temp... They insisted for me not to idle, so I didn't twice, and they ended up having to pay for roadside assistance.... well.... one of those times I parked at a TA because I knew what was going to happen... And then, sent email to maintenance dept. boss to know if they would still insist in me not idling under freezing temp... He agreed that I should idle... :yes2557:

After second and third thoughts, decided to ask person in Brasil if they had any way to scan FMLA forms and send to me via email instead of trying to send by "express" Brazilian mail... And they could!!! :yes2557:

Got the email this morning and forwarded to my co.... and they said that works!! :smt038 They will still have to translate that to English but I'm glad they accepted the forms... :yes2557:

Sorry this didn't occur to me earlier. When I did my business trip to São Paulo, it was quickly obvious that the local folks depended on mobile phones and texting a lot more than I was used to. Next time, you might have better luck getting someone to take a mobile phone picture and text it to you.

I also thought the local lingo for a text (torpedo) was quite apt as well :D

Little hidey hole in Waco , TX by the shipper...got to roll at 2am to try to make Ponca City by 0830...only 3.5 hours in the dock at HEB today..not complaining although Austin was still a joy. Planners scheduled this one a little tight for a 65 mph truck but ill do what I do.

Folks, I'm in rush mode again.... finishing my last meal of the day while posting this very quickly before I go to bed...

Got a last min load assignment early afternoon and had to rush.... But there was absolutely not enough time to arrive at shipper today before they closed

Going 10 mph thru freaking Bronx, NY and then GW Bridge...:biggrin_2552:

So... after numerous calls between shipper and broker while on the road... shipper told me they will take me at 4 am tomorrow...

So... I got to this service area in NJ, about 20 mins from them... and had to find a driver who was fixing to leave so that I could get a parking spot...

    And here I am...

Gotta go now... you all stay warm and safe...

Another long 700+ mile day. Now I'm sitting at Dotties in the Midwest Petroleum Travel Center waiting on a burger and munching on some fried cheddar cheese squares.
