Ive gone into docks and refused to back in unless they gave me salt/sand to put under my tires before I parked before... This one place I remember vividly was a complete sheet of ice. They said they never had a problem with anyone getting stuck there before. I flat refused unless I got salt. They gave it to me. The 3 other trucks that got there after me had to be towed out...

Ground up corn cobs work surprisingly well. Most all feed mills will give that stuff away.

I also drag my trailer brakes a little when coming into parking lot. Put some heat I to them and dry out moisture if you been driving in rain, snow. Do not set trailer brakes.

I've had no problems using salt.

I prefer melting over just simply trying for traction.

A little in the front and back and sides of each tire. A little more around the actual power tires.

Remember, Rock Salt becomes ineffective below 20 degrees and might not work in single digit temps.

"they never had a problem, with anyone getting stuck"...is cuz "they did not go outside and help push....or had to call for a tow"...

"they" were all snug as a bug in a rug, and went to coffee break, or lunch, or home when thier shift ended..

so of course..."they had no problems"

New Ulm is beautiful. There is an old POW camp there (1 of 2 surviving in the US), its now a state park. A lot of German speaking people and architecture.
