After reading the ordinance you posted, it occurred to me that I'd never really looked at the traffic sections in my city. Interestingly, the traffic ordinances would give me more leeway to move a class 8 semi in/out of my driveway than the home based business ordinance does to park it there.
Here's an example of what we have:
So I can go on a road not designated as a truck route as long as it's the most direct route to my headquarters office. There is one in there about no parking on the street unless loading or unloading. And of course another section saying if my heavier than 6,000 gvw vehicle tears up the street, curbs, or whatnot, I have to pay for the damage.
The weasel language is in the home-based business code. Section D pretty much says the City can exclude your operation if they don't like it, and how much your neigbors dislike you. The rest pretty much exclude anything that's not invisible. Here's a few of the interesting ones:
I'm sure your city code is just as ambiguous, and biased toward the city doing whatever they please. Big Don is right - let the smoke clear a while then sneak it back in. Looking at my own city, if I hire a driver that I'm not related to, that would be grounds for not issuing my business license. That is, if they find out. Which they wouldn't, unless I had some major dust-up with my neighbors or the police, and the city had cause to waste time looking into my business. If I keep a low profile, I'm sure they'll be happy to keep taking my occupational tax money every year and leave me alone.

You might also try talking to the chief of police. a friend here had the same problem when he talked to the chief everything went ok and no more problems. just a suggestion
Hanadarko Thanks this. -
Oh I was strongly advised against this idea. I thought it might be a good one but seems that while it SOUNDS good - bad things end up happening.
My alderman didnt get back to me. I wont call him again.
I suppose I will sneak the rig back in if/when I need to - but come winter it never comes to the house anyway... -
I had basically opted to just give up on this and yesterday my Alderman actually called me. He spoke with the Chief of PD and after they review the Ordinance the Chief said he will get back with him. They feel that the way the Ordinance is written that there shouldn't be any issue if I limit the time I bring it home to perhaps 2-3x a month or so.
That would work for me. So maybe all of this wasn't so in vane as I had thought.
Time will tell....Big Don Thanks this. -
My business is based out of my home, i live on a 4 acres zoned agricultural, But after Hurricane Rita, the federal government put up all new road signs, And all Parish roads are zoned 10 ton , My road was been widen at the t so my trucks and trailers could fit, I called my police juror and ask him about the 10 ton limit, he said you have to be able to get to your shop ,so the law doesn't apply to you. Also i might add all the 10 ton signs have been removed , Good Luck

Ironically, speaking of signs.... Yesterday on the way home I noticed a whole new crop of signs start popping up on entrance roads to my town.
"NO ENGINE BRAKING WITHIN CITY LIMITS"
...Now I know that's unrelated, or at least I presume so but geesh...
