typical of the west coast cities. when i have a bay area delivery, i usually park it in the central valley (off hwy 99) and setup for the run in from there. it's not my favorite area to run.

I've stopped there quite a few times (both directions) without issue. In fact, although I've seen cars stopped there, I've never been approached, nor even been aware of anyone doing that. Mind you, a place like that, I just pull over, climb into the bunk and then leave when I wake up.

Maybe they just think you're cute. :biggrin_255:

We use to stop at both. My husband likes rest areas I like the truck stops (okay I like cleaner restrooms and a cafe.....so sue me).

But now we have found places to stop on the rare occassions we stop. Beside stores, suppliers yards, this nifty old lady's yard. She gives us cake. LOL

I will say though........rest stop eagle's landing in Scipio UT. nice place.

I once pulled into the eastbound side around midnight to get about a half hours rest and before I could even get in the sleeper, some dude pulls up in a minivan and lifts up his shirt. I just got the hell out of there. A freind of mine told me he had someone climb up on his truck and look in the window in the same spot. That ain't no place to park as far as I'm concerned. I understand they think I'm cute and all. I mean, its hard not to. But please folks. Wimins only.

I strolled into the flying j here in indy yesterday. This is where the new boss suggested to hang out and get things in order in the new truck. I had other ideas, but I played along. The day became the night because my load doesnt pick up til noon today. I went inside last night, to shower and have a bite to eat, the tv room was full, and I stopped stood at the back of the room, and was watching a bit of the movie for just a few minutes. There were 20 drivers in there, all talking typical bs stories, most were in their first 90 days, trying to decide if werner, swift, or cre was the best company. Nothing wrong with it, I just cant stand the crowd. I never stay in t/s, when hauling cars I stayed at the auto auctions. security, quiet, people with similar interest. Now I assume Ill stay at shipper/receivers, or rest areas.

I pulled up the El Paso Times trying to look up an accident that caused I-10 to be closed down the other day east of El Paso, around the 39,when I came upon this report that I hadn't heard about. I don't know how to do that cut and copy or pastey thingey but it got my attention with the headline..Truckers advised to steer clear of Anthony,Vado!! There was a murder in the visitor's center and a pretty serious assault too. I've always wanted to find a way to visit those dairies around there...but not no mo!

I live in Illinois and it can be hard to say something good about the Land of Lincoln . But Illinois has some great rest areas for trucks. Lots of truck parking and well lighted. I stop at the one on I74 at Farmer City IL almost every week. Have camped out for the night and has been quiet.
I better shut up now before they find out how nice they are and close them.
