Well.....if you just have to park on the ramps, make sure to park on the onramp. Why you ask? Car/trucks are travelling at a higher speed on offramps. So if you get hit parking on an onramp... there will be less damage. But i suggest trip plan better abd see if you can park somewhere else

Where are you going in Illinois? Check the atlas for rest stops en route to the receiver/shipper.

Post your trip plan. Someone on here will know of the mom and pop truck friendly parking places not shown on your map/ app.

    Jeck Thanks this.

Where ya going in Illinois? I'm from Illinois....I may or may not be able to help ya out. As for ramps, the on ramp...sure. The off ramp, not in a million years. Also, there's no actual law in Illinois persay (I believe) about parking on ramps. However, some are marked no parking....some aren't. There's been plenty of times I've parked on the on ramps that are NOT marked while on a run, or when I couldn't make it home...never had an issue with the law. That's a call you're gonna have to make though driver.

    Just to clarify.
DOT does not consider that truck stop or rest area 40 miles away as the safe place to park. Any area where you can legally park out of traffic and harms way so as not to cause delays in the normal flow of traffic is safe parking. That could be something 10 minutes away or a half hour away. Driving an hour so you can get to a truck stop or a rest area is not acceptable.
