Think about it, the truck stops pay a lot for their real estate. Why not give a premium to loyal drivers. If I buy most fuel at loves, give me parking credits just like they do shower credits. If the ELD goes through, something will have to change. It's hard enough to find parking now, wait till everyone is out of hours by that truck stop!
I will say that the PFJ reservation system sucks in comparison to Petro/TA's. Online doesn't email you anything in the way of a receipt. You have to print or save to PDF the web page confirmation. Over the phone you can be on hold 5 minutes. Then when you arrive, you have to go through much of the same crap again. Had to use it again tonight in Shelbyville, IN. Reserved night before and all was gone when I arrived next day at 20:00. Also, had to leave an hour ago to run next door to Kroger for a 01:00 appointment. I informed the fuel desk I was leaving and will be back but I bet money we'll have to roust somebody out of my spot here in about an hour when I get my bills and head back.
I just refuse to pay to park at a truck stop. It should be illegal for them to try and force drivers to pay to park. If I can't find a place to park, I will go somewhere I can park. If enough drivers refused to pay to park, then they would stop sticking it to those who are willing.
Must be nice to live in your world where you can have that attitude and not worry about flagrant violations in some situations where you have no control over. The day will come you will be glad you have the option. Truck stops fill up, some early, paid parking or not.
Just have to plan your day accordingly. Example: on I-12 exit 40 ,Petro-Hammond,LA better be in there no later than 3pm or you'll be S.O.L which means that you'll be looking to park at the Speedco across the street after-hours or head down to LaPlace,LA, Exit 209 I-10 to the truckstop's there. This business will force you to put on your thinking cap if you want to succeed!
If 10,000 trucks think this way, that 3Pm will be flooded. Make it noon or better yet prior to sunrise.
This are the same guys saying but I ain't making no money. I'm on elogs I drive 13 hours a day and never find trouble parking.
