I have used the paid spots at Flying J's on a few different occasions. At the time I was more than a little miffed that I had to pay to park in a place where I just pumped 200 gallons of diesel, but late at night when the place is wall to wall except for the paid spots it can be a godsend. Now, TA/Petro, on the other hand, kinda ticks me off. At the TA in Willington CT for example, the entire lot is pay to park unless you fuel, spend $20 in the store, etc, and yet they also have about 1/2 of the row closest to the building marked as reserved. Double dipping like that really irritates me.

Really? That's your response? Has it ever occurred to you sometimes load appointments and locations require you to park (or re-park) well after midnight to complete a break, and given eLogs require travel distance to remain under 2 miles to keep from tripping, and there is no post-delivery parking at the receiver, and the only practical place to park happens to be a truck stop next door? And I "don't know how to plan my day"? Give me a break driver who apparently doesn't know the life of 48 OTR refrigerated drivers on eLogs. So, you can arrive at any location in the USA at the ideal time to secure a spot? You're my hero.

SMH How can you argue with this level of response?

Some drivers need to understand "write offs". If you pay $14.00 to park your tax deduction only saves you your tax rate times the $14.00. So if you are in a 25% tax bracket you save $3.50

It doesn't matter if you can write it off or not. It is still an unnecessary expense. I will just take my business to a place where I can park rather than being extorted by one of these truck stops.

You need to do some planning. I will just keep driving in order to find a parking spot that I don't have to pay them after I purchase fuel.

Using your logic that just means i can start parking in truck stops again since the the mega box carrier got my license out of a cracker Jack's box company and lease purchase drivers won't be able to afford to park there. The day i can also with it wiry of my hood getting ripped off is a day i look forward to.
