I live rural, so parking at the house is a real option. When the roads are bad, since I have gravel to the house, I can park in town next to the Co-op elevator. The small town I live near is keeping a large paved lot clear of snow for trucks to park. They do not want trucks parked on the town streets, so they provide free snow removal and a vacant paved lot for the trucks to park at. It is indeed nice to have a town council that is so inclined to help out truckers. Too bad many towns don't do this, considering the high number of vacant lots around most towns that the city could designate as truck parking and keep those lots cleared of snow.

  3. I live in the middle of nowhere and have lots of land to park on. I have to stay on the gravel if the ground is soft, but most of the time the ground is hard as a rock in the summer.

I let two buddies park their trucks/trailers at my place. In return, they provide me with a bottle of my favorite whiskey every now and then, or maybe lend a hand if I'm wrenching when they happen to be around.

You may see if you can find someone like me who'd let you park on their place. Someone who lives not too far from where you are and has the space for it.
