FWIW, I simply avoid the end spots if I can. I've never been hit, and those that I've seen that HAVE been hit had a trailer dragged across their hood by someone turning while driving FORWARD.

I pull thru a fuel island about 1/2 way--take out my orange cone--and put it behind truck--then string my yellow/black crime tape across the back and front of truck====then go shower eat etc--and then get up and ##### at every driver who dares to invade my personal area--by getting fuel without shuttin their truck off and tippy toeing while fuleling!:biggrin_2559:

If you're looking for a real challenge you should try parking between a Swift truck and a FedEx truck.

Try to park where you will likely have an easier departure after your break ( I know, this is hard when people park in front of you and block you in). Do not park on the ends of the aisles next to the area that trucks pass through to enter or exit. I have seen many trucks that got hit by the trailer of someone turning too short. Do not pull into a spot forwards that you will have to back out of when you leave. And practice your backing every chance you get. If you are in doubt when backing, ask another driver for help- they usually will. Do not rush to back into a spot just because you are holding up other trucks who are driving through. Take your time and Get Out And Look (GOAL). They can wait! You will be fine, driver. Do what you know is right, and forget about that owner op in the Peterbilt who is cussing you on the CB or blowing his horn because you aren't as experienced as he seems to think he always was. We were all new once- wish they all could remember how it feels to new like you. Good luck in your driving career! And never forget what you are experiencing now- one day you will be the one helping that nervous rookie squeeze into that tight spot.

Nobody and I mean nobody knows it all. I don't care how many years you've sat behind the wheel. There's always somebody better at anything you do.

With my employer you'll spend more time in reverse than in any other gear. We don't go to truck stops, but I'd place a bet that I could squeeze my truck into a hole that would even make 30 year veterans drop their jaw. Not bragging, but when you spend so much time in reverse, you have no choice but to get good at it. I'd place another bet that the 30 year veteran O/O's giving you flap on the CB are the same guys that hold me up at customers.
