I can make it into a tight spot at the TS but I avoid it. With this spread all I can think is "$3k in tires, $3k in tires, %!#$#" as they drag across the pavement. >.<

I don't get upset but I do walk over and tell them to move! I'll tell you nicely once and then if you don't move it'll get ugly.

When the lot is only half full? No I don't get upset but I had an incident in Missouri where it was 1am and I needed sleep bad. I pull into a rest area and low and behold a car is parked in the truck parking area and the car lot doesn't have one car in it. I woke the guy up and asked him to move so I could park here and sleep. He told me to F off. Luckily a state cop pulled in and that situation changed real quick.... in that case yeah I would be real angry.

I just wish they would get rid of the ###### handicap spots at places. If you're so handicapped in a truck you need a special spot then maybe it's time you got out from behind the wheel and did some rehab or something.

Lol... well that statement will probably incite a riot, but I agree with removing the handicap spots.

I've done my own informal survey and invariably I've found three types of people that use those spots:

    1. Bubba, the morbidly obese super-trucker. He usually parks right next to the door or in the fuel island. When all those spots fill up, he has to resort to the handicap spot. It takes a lot of work to transport twenty six bags of Cheetos and three 64 oz sodas back to the truck. If he parked any farther away, he'd die of a heart attack.

    2. Tyrone, the wannabe banger. His pants are halfway down around his ankles and it causes him to walk with a limp. Additionally, the weight of the gold coating on all of his teeth induces Undulating Head Syndrome--he needs to park close because walking too far places great strain on his neck muscles. Plus, if the need should arise where he has to bus' a cap in someone, he needs to be able to make a fast getaway 'fore the po-po comes.

    3. Stephen Hawking, the retired theoretical physicist. With more money than god, he's designed the ultimate rooster cruiser. The bad boy he drives boasts a 500 inch wheelbase, 14 satellite dishes on the roof and a direct link to the Hubble telescope. Even though his electric wheel chair has more range than a Toyota Prius, his monster ride requires the oversize parking space that a handicap spot provides.

Now granted, I've seen the occasional (very occasional) driver who has his handicapped (or physically challenged, or whatever the hell the politically correct saying du jour is) spouse with him. This is not generally the rule, however.

Sadly, the reason we have handicap parking spots at the truck stops is because some ambulance chasing lawyer was about to miss the monthly payment on his Lamborghini. He'd already sued all the fast food restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores, real-estate offices, etc. for violating the ADA.

I've gotta admit though, he must have been one hell of a persuasive lawyer to convince a judge that truck drivers, who must pass a DOT physical to even be able to drive, were in need of handicap parking spaces.

Truckers are their own worse enemy for losing parking spots.

I came home after a week out, to find that a grain hauler had been parking on the empty lot just past my property. Only problem, he was driving through my property to park.

He was leaving large ruts. Truck was running. I beat on the door. No one home.

Called the police for the damage.

Called his company the next day. They told me, the driver never takes the truck home. I had the wrong company.

I advised them I had pictures of the truck, license plate, side info, trailer, trailer license plate, mud on the tires and showing where it was parked. Along with the ones the police took.

Changed his mind and will cover the damages.

    #### kids need to stay off your lawn. :biggrin_2559: I can't stand putting a tire off onto mowed grass. I guess some people could care less.

Only about once a month do I have to spend the night in the truck. Coming back to Denver from Billings in a snowstorm, I had a 20' container on a stretched 20' chassis. Stopped at the Flying J in Casper, backed into the spots near the store (they are designed for straight trucks, bobtails, and talented drivers. Hadn' t been in the sleeper more than an hr when someone started pounding on the door. I was so tired, roadweary, etc. from 5 hrs of near whiteout conditions, that when I backed into the spot, I jacked knifed the trailer and took up 3 spots blocking 2 bobtails in. Not sure how I managed that without hitting anyone.
