Parting ways with OOIDA

This is basically why i stopped sending them my membership fees over ten years ago. They focus all their efforts and resources on bs stuff while letting the really important things go right on by. Fighting elogs when the should have been fighting for hos reform is just the most recent example of this.

Back when i decided i was done with them they were expending all their resources trying to get a bill passed for mandatory fuel surcharge pass through. The guys leasing from swift and Schneider might care about that but for the independents negotiating with a broker its a waste. There is no difference to the independent if you get 1300 linehaul and 200 fsc or if you get 1500. It's still 1500 bucks, plain and simple. The only thing that bill would have done is more paperwork. Its not like the broker is going to be working more for less out of the kindness of his heart, he would simply be keeping more of the linehaul while passing on all of the fsc.

 

That is the truth right there. They never really “got it”.

Can't really think of many things OOIDA has done over the years...at least anything that has changed trucking for the better...160,000 current membership at $45 per ...OOIDA is raking in over... $7 million a year

 

Plus what they make selling insurance

 

BS. The ATA lobbied in favor of the mandate, and celebrated the fact that it was published. They have also fought tooth and nail to keep the mandate in place, filing briefs against any and every effort at getting the stupid thing repealed.

 

So should they ignore their members who have their trucks under contract with a motor carrier just because YOU happen to operate under your own numbers? Should those contract operators drop their membership every time the association acts on behalf of the independents?

 

Try to catch up, @Timin770. It’s sarcasm. Following the HOS doesn’t make you safe like some people believe.
