It’s been that way since at least the beginning of September when my truck went down. They’re doing that to keep people from hoarding the sensors.

    Correct
Ordered it awhile ago when everyone was having issues getting the part
Stopped by Peterbilt for a few other items and was told all previous orders per HQ had to be cancelled unless you were already in a shop
Then at that point Peterbilt would determine if you get a new part or if they override the program

When a truck goes down because of the sensor the shop where it is submits the VIN and proof of error code for that sensor along with placing an order for the sensor. At that time they also start the paperwork process for the EPA in order to do the software update if no sensors are available. When they do the update there’s a form that goes with the truck saying that the update has been done.

The dealers don’t know that they have sensors coming until they get a shipping notification. My truck was in Mankato and the software update was going to be released the following Tuesday I think it was, and they called me on a Friday and said they got a notification that they’d have 5 sensors on Monday. I know back in September when I got one it was because they had gotten a container delivered that had about 8000 sensors in it.

My turn. Check engine light came on yesterday, after delivering today, ran the truck over to cummins so they could atleast plug it in... The fault codes that came up are pictured below. Cummins "thinks" it's my def level sensor and refers me to peterbilt...

Go to peterbilt and of course they can't even look at it until Monday... Problems/break downs always seem to happen on long holiday weekends for me...

Peterbilt did say, if it's the def level sensor and it gets ordered Monday I should have it by Thursday at the latest...

Ive had two go out in the last couple months and it showed different codes then that. In fact I hadn’t saw that temperature one before. That’s definitely different.

    What city are you near?

Absolutely awesome stuff here. One Gentleman offering a hand on a part that is not plentiful. Nice to see. More of this than the putting down!

Well dropped truck off to Peterbilt at 0800 this morning. They call at around Noon with updates.

The DEF level sensor is bad/needs replaced. The new part was ordered should arrive in 2-3 days...

The SCR/DPF wiring harness is bad/needs replaced. They have it in stock...

Got myself a nice hotel room in Davenport... Now we wait it out!!!
