FYI - Miles in trucking = $$ . Even if its .30cpm. Do you want to drive a truck for cheap $$, NO, none of us do $760 a week vs $0 a week is a #### big difference.

Good thing your not an O/O with that mentality!!

Total rip off to work for. They cheap you out on fuel surcharge. Safety will make you sit even though you do a 34 because you have to many miles according to them.. Staff is rude. I went broke because of them.

Not if you run for percentage. 200 mile load at 75% of $800 = $3 a mile = $600 600 mile load at 90 cents a mile = $540. Miles aren't everything. Want to make money trucking find a percentage pay job.

I worked for these morons for over a year, 3 years ago. I NEVER did get over 3,000 miles in a week. Went to Calif. twice and Texas 4 or 5 times. They no longer have automatics. Nobody was smart enough to know how to use them correctly, according to Kevin Fox, Manager of Murray. They now have Concordia Freightliners and Corn Binders all 10 speeds. They mostly hire from across the street at the college. When I was there the rookies all got brand new trucks while the drivers that REALLY brought the money in had to settle for which ever piece of crap they were assigned to. They treated the drivers like scum. My recruiter told me to bring a change of cloths because my first load would be by where I live so I can get my sleeper gear. Fat chance. After 3 days of sleepig, or TRYING to sleep with no blanket, I finally started staying in motels, which then they let me go home for my gear. So if you like being treated like crap, then this is the company for you.

I drove for PTL and it's not a bad company. They don't have automatic trucks anymore and they are in the process of getting rid of all of their Freightliner's and replacing them with International Pro Star Plus's which are pretty much crap! My husband works as a DOT inspector at PTL and I've seen many drivers come in and they have their fair share of good and bad things to say about the company which you find at any company. The one thing I really didn't like was my dispatcher/fleet manager. Her name was Tracy and she didn't know her ##### from a hole in the ground! She was located at the terminal in West Memphis, Arkansas which is the worst of the 2 terminals (they only have 2) the good one is in Murray, KY. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need or want anymore info!

I just read through this thread. Anyone have anything new to say? Now that the economy is recovering are miles better? I'm single, don't mind going out on the road with no home time. I'm just looking at every company I can. Thanks.

I'd say your husband doesn't know a whole lot either. PTL has a 92.1% BASIC score for Unsafe Driving and 70% in Maintenance as well as 120 crashes which included 78 towaway. This is another e-log carrier that shows multiple violations related to "onboard recording device".
