I made that mistake! Wrong company for me because I was hesitant about becoming and o/op again after leaving Swift. I wanted to get away from big corps to be treated as a person and not just a truck number. Well that didn't happen at PTL. The long and short is that making money without a FSC or discount on a fuel card is not likely. Zero settlements week after week and being told it will get better while living in advances was disheartening at best. I wanted to start out as a company driver first. The recruiter told me they only had openings for owner operators. Red flag, I should have ran. Now, I understand they use lease purchase drivers to stay afloat. I would post all my settlements here and now if my contract and email disclosure did not state the following:

It is bad for our industry that companies do their level-best to drain the lifeblood out of the very same people brave enough to transport goods coast to coast.
All 5 drivers in my orientation class quit working after 2 weeks. I should have listened to them after being charged 3 weeks of deductions on my first load. I lasted 3 months and no matter what I said or did the finances did not improve. My final settlement should win an award! My wife and I laughed ourselves to tears.
All is well now. A new year, a real trucking company (did my research this time) and a new president!
Best wishes
Jon & TeresaLonesome Thanks this. -
