For those who have been through an IFTA audit and use some sort of GPS device (Omnitracs, for example), what documents did you provide to the auditor?

    • Vehicle Position History Report
    • ELD Driver Log
    • Fuel Transaction Report
    • Driver Trip Sheet (simplified IVDR, big fleet version)
    • Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Distance & Fuel Summary (charts)

By the way, does anyone still provide the routes traveled on the trip sheet (IVDR), or do they just rely on the map coordinates in the Vehicle Position History Report? The big fleet I used to work for did not require their drivers to report the routes traveled in the trip sheets.

I just completed an IFTA audit about 2 months ago with a fleet of 40 some trucks running roughly 1.6 million miles a year. It is very simple, I simply provided fuel receipts and records and trip history for vehicles in the time period he requested which in my case was 4th quarter of 2018. They did not ask for drivers logs or inspection sheets. He did end up taking a small I believe 1 week sample where he asked me to pull GPS locations basically my understanding is they cross reference the locations and mileages from my GPS software with the states. We use Sprint Geotab, hope this helps and good luck.

Do you have your drivers keep track of the routes traveled on, or do you just rely on the data provided by your GPS software?

We simply rely on GPS we do not do any route paperwork and we passed the audit with flying colors. Actually I got about $1500 back.
