I'll slow down and let the other rig pass. I'd rather back off a little than have an incident occur. However I do get agitated when the adaptive cruise control slows me down.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Yes it's true they should not be passing at 1/2 mph, they need at least 5 mph to pass legally, you only legally have 1 mile to complete a pass and you can get cited for illegal passing.
That being said show you grown up a little bit get back off for a secong and let them by, be the man showing what your made of .
Drivers have gotten to aggressive, not sure why but I see it not just in trucks but also 4 wheelers. The goal is we all get to out destinations alive and on injuries, make safety first your new motto for 2019.
We used to help each other because we are professional drivers, but that does not seem to be the case anymore, sadly. And Don't use your high beams if anyone is in front of you.x1Heavy, Tombstone69, tinytim and 1 other person Thank this. -
A month or so ago somewhere. A Fedex company truck/driver merged in about a half mile behind me and was obviously spec'd to run my same 65 mph. Ran there about 5 minutes then we transitioned through a slower construction zone and he closed the gap a bit.
As we came out of the CZ, he got into the passing lane and was maybe 3 truck lengths behind. We're still running 65 but somehow he got it in his mind he was going to pass me. He paced me there in the "passing position" about 5 minutes, then came on the radio and asked why I was not being courteous to allow him to pass.
WTF!!?? We have identical speeds. It's flat land. He's nowhere near being close enough to start a pass and I told him as much. I just got into my PasSmart and put some distance between us and never saw or heard from him again SMH
Fedex are strange, they seem to be spec'd all over the map in terms of speed maxLast edited: Jan 2, 2019

People don't drive beside me for too long. When they get and can't get it done in a reasonable amount of time and it causes people to line up behind them I just speed up and make them try again later.
I'm not slowing all day everytime someone wants to pass and to be honest I really don't give a crap about anyone else's delay.Snakeschasingcars Thanks this. -
I always let some go around. I’ve got a 65 mph tractor and Chicago to Indy is awful. Seems everyone has a 64 or 65.5 mpg tractor. When it gets bad I just drop down to 62 and sit back and relax. It’s not worth the frustration. FedEx Freight are all 65 some are 64. Fedex Ground is all over the place speed wise.
I was very happy when XPO turned there trucks up to 70. Pretty sure Estes is at 66 or 67, as soon as there at my rear trailer in the passing lane I let them by. -
D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
