You describe precisely how i drive in my 4 wheeler in the first line here. Been doing it for a few years, never had an issue with law enforcement. I live in michigan near the 2 lane per side part of i-94...when i head east i stay in the left lane unless someone comes up behind me, then i move over and let em go. I usually run 77mph, which is about 20 lower than my maximum speed, but i drive an old volvo so a lot of clowns in sports cars and SUVs pass me. Nobody gets a chance to pass me on the right. If theres no traffic ill stay in the right lane, but thats rare, its a heavy truck route and truck speed is 60..and heavily patrolled. A while back i was doing 64 in the big truck up there, DOT pulled up next to me and gave me the evil eye..haha...4 over? gosh. I just dont like swifty pullin in front of me and doing stupid ####e.

    I believe I do.

I also believe a speed limit is the fastest you should be going. Its OK to tailgate and merge in and out of heavy traffic but its not OK to drive the speed limit in an inside lane backing it down to let those in a hurry in?

I haven't been driving a truck very long but I am older than you and have been driving many years. My problem with lots of truckers is they drive like they are in a NASCAR race.

I drive my truck in the safest manner possible. That means being courteous even if it slows me down. I also believe in not overdriving my following distance.

Another SWIFTY driver, think they know it all. I could see you like being fingered as number "1" as your being PASSED ON THE RIGHT !!! But you have NO "COMMON SENSE" why !!!:biggrin_2559:

The mileage you get in a car all depends on how they are set up, you can't just willy nilly say less than 55 gets less MPG. I had a car that got 34 mpg at 70, but if you dropped back to 55 it dropped down to 32. My 1950 Chevy gets 25mpg at 45 mph but at 60 it drops to 20 MPG, it may have to do with the 4:11 rear gear and no overdrive.

"Sweet spot" for my Ram is 61 mph. For the Cascadia, 63. But that doesn't mean I don't get into it on occasion...especially in the Ram. Loooovvee that Hemi...

But back to the topic. If everyone is safe and makes it out alive, that extra 30 seconds I could have saved when I'm behind a Swift or Werner or Covenant or JB or whomever isn't going to cost me too much on the other end. I won't be offering the single finger greeting because a lesser experienced driver is doing what he or she feels comfortable doing. I'd rather he or she be comfortable than place them in a stressful situation where they are constantly looking for a way out rather than at the road ahead of them. And before y'all get on me because it says "3 years" trucking on my little corner profile and think I'm inexperienced, keep in mind that at the age of 41, I do have previous life experiences...like running Code 3 in a 1976 Kenworth Tender with 3,000 gallons of water in it, no baffles and on a winding single-lane gravel logging road up in the hills because some dunderhead forgot to put out his camp fire before leaving.
