The fact that its brought up often enough means there is a genuine difference and problem between those who dont care or do it vs those that it really bothers and aggravates.

Concerning this particular topic, I think if more people exhibited professional courtesy vs self righteous lack there of, we wouldnt need these broken record topics, would we?

I fully expect this thread to go a few more pages with those who try to justify their actions vs those who complain about it. Then when it escalates to the point where grown men cant express their own feelings and concerns with out resorting to beligerance and offensive comments... it will get shut down.

Thus there in lays the fundimental darwin award for man kinds revolving door. History repeats itself... sadly it does.it more often here on TTR.

I know trucks like International,Freightliner and a couple others have a headlight int erupt switch to kill the headlights only, even the DRL's.
Not sure about Volvo and some others.
If not, there are fuses in them that could be pulled.
I only like headlights on when I turn them on....not burning all day.

However , my Prostar has had headlights (DRl) on for the last 320k miles I've been driving it and I have yet to replace a bulb . Daytime running lights were developed in cars years ago because multiple studies proved they made moving vehicles more visible in situations where they might be unnoticeable . However , I can understand why you would want to be old school and not have anything automatic on your truck . I recommend you get a crank handle installed through your grille and get rid of that pesky electrical starter thing . You might also get some glass boxes and put candles in them that you can light when the sun goes down .

BTW , I thought you went to a company with Petes . I see you came back to the right way from the truck in your signature line . I need to get in touch with you about modifying the aftermarket horn to work on the Prostar . I was having a tractor inspection done recently and when they told me to blow the air horn they all laughed and called it the other city horn .

I refuse to have my headlights on during the day in any vehicle with 4 or more wheels out of principal. I also ride a motorcycle, and keep the headlight on to stand out in traffic. If EVERYBODY drove around with headlights on all of the time, motorcycles wouldn't stand out quite as much. Besides, if you can't see an 8' wide, 11' tall, 60' long semi truck coming down the road, you've got more problems than whether or not that truck has its headlights on during the day.

My Dad taught me that, when on a 4 lane or larger road, when passing either another truck or a four wheeler, don't move back over until I can see the entire front of the passed vehicle at least half way up, ( centered ), in my right mirror.
Of course, that was back in the 60's, maybe common sense has changed since then.

I now flick my beams off/on, used to flash high beams.

4 piqued my interest the most... If I see an elephant/turtle race going on; I don't hesitate to say something over the CB. I may be governed and they are going faster than me, but it's still irritating to me. If neither of them lets their pole position go, I can usually count on another driver who isn't governed to "help out."

These are all good technique's on passing, problem is? most drivers today don't give a crap, On the flashing the high beams, I was told by a very experienced driving, Been driving 2 1/2 years, that turning off your lights to let someone know it safe to return to the lane is very dangerous, That driving blind is a bad idea, Guess I've got super sight, as by just a quick flick of the switch only turned them off for a fraction of a second, I never lost sight of the road, Maybe I should stitch a big S on my shirt :biggrin_25517:
