I would like to add something if I may ? When you see a oversize load fixing to pass. Don't freak out, stay doing what you were doing.I ( we ) will not hit you ,unless you freak out & shoot over in our lane. When we have to react because you can't stay on your side of the zipper the loads that I ( we ) are hauling don't react well to that.

BROKENSPROKET, haulhand and EZ Money Thank this.

That involves common sense. Something that is lacking in today's crop of steering wheel holder's.

Oh, I've wanted to ask you guys this... I'll usually try to give more space by riding the white line as closely as I can. Is that actually helpful or would it be wiser to act like you're not there at all?

No, I do not need to read the owner's manual. I know where mine is. I'm equally glad you know where your's is.

thats the only thing that pisses me off regarding passing. Don't make me have to slow down after you've elephant raced your way past me and then borderline cut me off by plopping your butt in my face because your truck isn't left lane material and you've got a conga line of cars ready to lynch you. Usually I slow down before an idiot like this pulls this maneuver, actually feeling sorry for the cars for once. Usually a mega carrier bozo idiot wearing a Captain Kirk Bluetooth that pulls these shenanigans. :)

    Vilhiem Thanks this.

Yeah, you slow down to get some following distance and the next person decides it's time to pass because you are going 1mph slower than their cruise. On and on all day long.

I got #####ed at by another driver over the cb because of that. Don't ##### at me. ##### at the other drivers running up behind 4-wheelers at full steam and then want to merge in front of me...

Yes, if you want hug the white line that's fine. What I'm getting at is don't come over the zipper.

I usually get on the cb and announce I am about to pass, but nearly every wide load, the escort and truck driver are on a different channel, but then too many times, they bleed over. When some are on the same channel, the escort tells the truck driver "got a big one ah coming".

I have never really seen a wide load, leave the right lane, unless something is on the shoulder.

My deliveries this week I encountered one, they had to run down the center lane due to the risk of knocking signs over. For that one I slowed down and rode the bumps.

...and then got onto the cb about two steering wheel holders that were not only having a turtle race but were trying to pass the wide load, left lane, slowly, while crowding him. I don't think they had theirs on if they have one at all, but I heard lots of new names for guys like that!
