Given the current CDL job market -- for a new driver, in central FL.....it's really pretty much a "no brainer"....:
Swift Transportation -- OTR -- 48 states -- hires, trains new CDL holders -- Orlando, FL
If they will hire you -- better take it; stay with them AT LEAST one year -- even longer will make you look better....to later employers.
Also: try to do some flatbed with Swift -- if you later see the opportunity to do so; experience with different types of freight will make you more valuable, than if all you have pulled are "boxes".

Swift has a terminal in Las Vegas. Maybe consider Swift and then if you decide to move, you can move to Las Vegas. Ask for refrigerated division.

- Their tanker fleet is small -- & they really prefer previous experience with other freight...b4 they bring you into their tanker fleet
- Their tanker fleet mostly runs up in the northeast
- their tanker freight is all food-grade products...but no booze

Knew it was small, but remember guys starting tanker from scratch when I was there. Seems like all liked it. Never heard much complaints.
I remember them starting intermodal (he also mentioned that) way back, but thought it fell apart. However, I could swear I have seen a few here & there of late.
Not sure I would recommend something like that. Heard a lot of complaints when they test trialed, but things could have changed over the years.Last edited: Feb 10, 2025
