That's my ideal job route right there. Around 500miles a day and home daily sounds perfect

Yep and especially with the mega companies, you know you'll be sitting waiting for your next load.

Unless it's all drop and hook you won't be making that for local driving it's better to find a job that pays hourly. If you have to sit to get unloaded youre looking at around 200 to 250 miles a day as a local driver.

I gotcha. Is TMC or NTB Trucking considered mega companies? Those are the 2 I'm most interested in at the moment.

I don't know about NTB but TMC has beautiful equipment and will expect you to keep it clean and you'll receive extra pay for that.Mechanics go over your equipment everytime you get back to the the terminal. They re a strict company but the pay is there if you do your job.

That's what i keep hearing. I don't mind that since I'm a little ocd with cleanliness anyways. I just want to make sure the pay is there and I'm not sitting on the road all the time waiting for hours. The recruiter said i should do % pay and drivers average 11 to 1300$ a week with them.

Most home daily accounts are P&D (pickup & delivery), not linehaul. Those P&D accounts are city driving all day doing pickup & delivery of packages.

Those $500 a week jobs pattyj mentioned are junk accounts like Schneider has doing short runs.
If you decide to do OTR later, some companies you can make over a grand a week. K&B Transportation guarantees a minumum of $1125 weekly. I usually "took home" a grand or $1200 weekly pulling tankers.
You'll do just fine if you're choose wisely.

I think the recruiter is being honest about that with TMC.

That's a good piece of mind then. I just read about a 100 post forum on here regarding TMC and doesn't sound to good. It really comes down to if you have a good fleet manager seems like. I don't know how the one is here in Ohio but it seems like the Ohio area is a heavy traffic spot for TMC as it could work out in my favor. I just don't want to jump from company to company on false hopes of an honest dollar. Want to find 1 company and stick around for at least 6months to a year.

NTB or Old Dominion is probably a good place to get started then. You'll make good money for sure at those two places.
Later if you want coast to coast, there's other choices. By this time you'll be settled in and have a better idea of what you want to try next.
It's good to have a plan as to your next move anyway, should you need to make a move.
Ohio is a good state for trucking with many choices. I always kept a little notebook of companies I'm interested in, so was prepared should something occur that I needed to move on.
Here's a couple you can look at for the future:
Nick Strimbu Inc. - Brookfield,OH - Teamsters - coast to coast refrigerated for the best money.
    Dutch Maid Logistics - Willard,OH - refrigerated
    K&B Transportation - refrigerated - guaranteed $1125 weekly (need 6 mos. experience)
Freymiller - coast to coast refrigerated
    plenty more to choose from
