I just have to point out ....

"Unfortunately, they won't likely go out of business"

    and

"Now I don't want those places to go out of business"

    ...
    ?

And I'm grateful that you enjoy hanging out @ the Peelot and Loves eating Subway. I prefer a sitdown meal where I get served my food.

So, what do you do when you can't get to the truckstop until 9PM, dog tired from a busy day and with the schedule you have, you only have enough time to do your 10 hour break and a pre-trip inspection, before you roll out again? Drive around the lot for 3 hours, until a reefer rolls out, hoping to get the spot before someone else? I'll pay for the reserved spot, no one else wants and get some well deserved rest, thank you.

Because in all the years I have tried to get into a truck stop, I have never been to one that I can't find at least one parking spot.

It's as if you are arguing for the sake of arguing.

If you feel it's appropriate to pay for a parking spot, the feel free to part with your hard earned money. To me, it's not worth it.

It's called "trip planning". You'll either do it and take into consideration when you need to park or you won't.

Which way do you want to do it?

I've got over 30 years of trip planning experience. I've also got more years than that to know that plans sometimes go to crap.

Here's a little business basic, for some of you all. Truckstops and other business offer discounts and freebies to lure customers in. When they are overrun with customers, there is no longer a reason to keep offering those discounts and freebies. You are not entitled to those discounts and freebies, you are only priviledged to have the opportunity to take advantage of them.
