I live near Terre Haute, just about 10 minutes from Interstate 70 and U.S. 41.

I don't want a job that's dependent on government tax revenue, as those jobs can be cut as revenues drop. Indiana residents voted a few years ago for a constitutional amendment that caps property taxes, which has really hurt a lot of city budgets.

My car insurance rates would double, and I already have more than 90K miles on my car. Not wanting to go into debt to get a better car.

The company I'm working for right now transports Medicaid patients who are being discharged from hospitals, going to and from kidney dialysis and some nursing home patients. From what I've been told they were taking Medicaid payments for other medical-related transportation until a few years ago when the reimbursement rates from Medicaid were slashed. Besides that, there are increased liability and mobility issues with nursing home patients that could require a lot more certification than would be economical for a one-person operation if I were to go that route.

Getting stoned would be a great way for me to lose my handgun license. But I wouldn't deliver pizzas if I didn't have a gun.

Anyone else here worked both as a trucker and a pizza delivery guy? I'm open to the pros and cons of both.

Also FWIW, since I haven't posted a new thread in several days...unless something changes, I'll be starting my CDL class on Jan. 13.
