where are you going to school and what companir=es are you looking at are you looking for company paid training or are you going to let unemployment pay for it
-
You should do better then that with OTR trucking. Now the numbers I posted were experience pay. I'd say your first couple years of a rookie driver should gross you 30 to 35. -
if i can come up with 301 bucks im going to tdi. but tuesday im going to the career center so i can talk to them about wia and what they offer. personally id like to go with schneider. but i want to hear from the recruiters to see what they say. and yes i know not to believe everything they say
-
$301 is all you need? Whats that for?
Your un-employed because of the economy, correct? If so, then the workforce investment act should pay for continuing education. Trucking or tech school.
I believe Schneider is a good company. I never drove for them myself... But I do watch them. Stay away from Western Express.... Us Xpress.... Convenant..... Unless you don't have any other choice. -
schnieder is good stay away from swift or wrener and becareful with usa and if you are looking at benifits pam has the best starting out but they will require you to team for the first 6 months

Since I know very little about anything and my opinion does not count since I'm not old, I feel I should throw it out there anyway since that's the way I am..
I would not turn the key for anything less than .50 per mile and over 20 an hour for all line 4 work.. I'm sure OTR teams make 80 or even 100K but it's split two ways.. Most of those UPS Freight, Con-way, and FedEx Freight sets you see running down the road make that by themselves..
I know very little about anything according to older people that have no respect for my opinions, but I do know I make .555 per mile and $23.55 and hour as a "local driver"... -
Melton & Maverick are also good starting companies. All flatbed except Maverick started a reefer division. I still haven't seen one rolling down the road yet....
Your 21... As long as your in good physical shape, I'd suggest flatbed. The pay tends to be a little better & most flatbed companies attempt to get their driver's home on the weekends. -
lol jakebrake12 you make that but for long runs your company contract a otr company to haul it, I dont know how many fedex conway ups loads i have pulled in the last month lol and they are not long hauls 500 miles or so
-
The company has stated they are eliminating sub-service carriers in some lanes because the service sucks.. They still pay me .555 for all miles driven no matter the length of my run - mid 400's per night this year..
We're pretty mello over here but if I were you, I would watch what I said in a UPS yard.. Those boys don't like getting blistered by folks like you..hehehe..
