Tallcountry, according to your little corner information, you have 8 years experience. You should expect that type of pay. A new person, however, cannot expect that kind of pay. I'm not going to blow sunshine up this young man's rear. A steady job that pays somewhere around 30 cpm is what can be expected. While others may talk smack about the big carriers, you may have to bite the bullet and go with one of them for experience. All you have to do is stick it out for two years, keep a clean record and you will be in a good place to negotiate with a smaller more local company.

    Good luck to you.

    Texas-Nana Thanks this.

yes ive been laid off because of the economy, thats what i was told. the 301 pays for the hotel license and background and physical, i have to get finaced for the rest, bout 5500. this is why im going to wia. im hoping to be a team with my cousin, however this may not be possible, after 6 months at werner he had all he could take from his dispatcher so he told them he was taking the truck to the termanal and they said not without a load. he told them either that or they could come get the truck, long story short they came 2 days later for the truck. with that said, i dont think he will get another chance. i really hope we can work together but if not than ima go with the best company willing to take me, and i dont care if it is werner. i can stick it out with a company for a yr or 2. i might be 21 but just ask any1 that calls me respect im the youngest old man youll ever meet. thanks for the info, every lil bit is helping me along my way.

    UHhhhhhhh........excuse me................

    Elvis IS ALIVE.............!!

he works at the local wally-world as a greeter and exit door checker.......

i know this for a fact. he stopped me as i was about to exit the store, to say, "have a nice day you wonderful trucker you".........

    really, really did............!!!!!!

to the original poster, money CAN BE MADE doing OTR, but sadly, many drivers blow off money buying chrome and trinkets and cb radio "noise making" boxes (tarzan yelling, etc) and then cry poverty. if OTR drivers concentrated on getting the miles, and only taking the needed amount of money for food, laundry, beverages, there would be PLENTY of money being direct deposited into thier bank accounts. i too have bought high dollar items when OTR for the home or me, NOT the truck or cb radio, or played video games at the truck stops.

its going to be in how YOU earn it and budget it...........

and............say hi to Elvis next time you see him at wally-world, would ya........????

    Nana.............tsk.....tsk.......... :biggrin_25522:
