beerkiller that is cool too bad you wont be on your own by the time i go to school. I would like to compare people's pay somehow but i dont think that will happen. I will keep studying the situation until i leave. I will let you all know what i take.

Also keep posting your thoughts on pay for me please.

They use to let you switch after 6 months on your own if you wanted to. After that you could only switch in the middle of the year or January 1st of the next year.

Per-diem truly is a very complicated issue. If you are an older person getting notices from IRS saying you already have the maximum paid in; then go for it. Otherwise; don't do it.

They pay you a base pay. If you elect to use per diem they subtract that amount from the base pay. Then take an extra .02 cents because the gubbermnt requires it. It's a lose lose situation. Actually it's a lose, lose, lose situation because you lose about $59 a day to claim and you lose .02 cents to the gubmt for whatever reason. If that ain't enough, you lose .13 from the base pay. If you made .50 cents a mile you will get .37 taxed and .11 untaxed then throw away .02 cents or a new car every 10 years. If it was done right, they would pay you .50 cents then .13 untaxed = .63 a mile. It would justify not being able to claim your $59 a day. It's just another scam to the working man

from what i have read on multiple websites is that there is nothing that the government requires for the companies to do per diem pay. But i think i have made my decision.

I wrote a thing on per diem some where else.

    Here is the link... http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...another-millis-experience-45.html#post2187109

After talking to other people and why they took either way I've noticed mmost people who are on per diem who thought about it either wanted the extra vacation time or needed to show less taxable income for child support, etc. If you are planning on buying a home, take straight pay, it helps boost income come time to fill out loan apps. I am on Straight pay.

As far as practical miles, vs HHG, it pretty much is a wash. Very little difference if any and some of the trips are paid the same miles so I took HHG miles for the higher pay rate.
