The thing to look for is if it says you have to lease his trailer to lease on
-
Dear Friend, in the trailer rental agreement said: carrier agrees to use the trailer rented from ------(his company name )for only those haul where carrier is hauling for -----(his company)... Does this applies to what you were saying above!
-
The agreement under which you haul freight for him is the one to look at
-
Only one think about trailer : sub-hauler shall be held responsible to return any trailing equipment rented or leased by prime carrier to its principal please of business
-
It doesnt sound like theres a lot to do except return the trailer and get away from this guy.. It might still be worth seeing a lawyer.
-
It doesn't sound like there is anything out of line in the lease so far going by what little you have posted. The one thing you might want to look for in the lease agreement before calling a lawyer is a clause were the owner of the trailer can call the equipment back at anytime for any reason, basicaly terminate the lease.

There is nothing in the trailer contract about breaking the contract except that it runs for a full year!
