Ok so in the first post he said " Is there any way around this or to pay less weekly?"

So for the first part, I agree, he shouldn't be able to "get around this". He should pay what he owes.

However, for the second part, I think $200 /week is unreasonable and he should be able to negotiate a better payment.

It would be nice if he is able to renegotiate, but I am guessing that $200 a week is in the contract only because they know it is unreasonable for a new driver to pay that out of his paycheck every week. The training company wants to use any means possible to discourage a driver from jumping ship and working for their competition after they get trained. Their are laws that prevent them from requiring the driver to work for them after training, but they can make it financially difficult for a driver to leave; hence the stipulation of $200 a week payback.

Honestly I could say someday I hope someone signs a contract with you and then decides. Hey I don't wanna pay what we agreed. I imagine your opinion would be much different in that situation

You miss the point, Put it this way he completes training and after 30 days gets terminated. Does the company still have the right to collect? he didn't break the contract the company did, but you can bet they will try. Predatory lenders get what they deserve. I have been in positions where the person that owed couldn't pay the agreed amount, we made arrangements without a bunch of bs fees or penalties. I still would choose family over anything, that's the difference between you and me. I'm gonna ad have you ever loaned money to a person and not got paid? Same thing, it happens

All good points and yes I have. But as a industry we have let this happen the megas have got big and as drivers we have in a sense became predatory i.e. You quit bobs trucking today tomorrow you are hired on and working at tims. Why wouldn't the companies become predatory when drivers are doing the same thing in a sense? No other industry could you quit today cause your panties are in a bunch and be hired tomorrow? If your a construction worker and your supervisor raises his voices or makes you work a Saturday the next company will laugh at you. Same as banker or lawyer. The op has never stated why he feels the need to quit and take the companies money for training and move on.

So you think it's fine he took the companies money and time for training and should have no responsibility to pay it back? Even tho he signed a contract clearly stating his obligation?

You're reading comprehension is lacking, I didn't say that at all, he wants a payment plan that is reasonable.
