12 seconds???!! That's like a block or two off (depending on your speed.) Was it like that ALL the time. On both units? If you have a GPS that is 12 seconds off all the time - either it is a messed up or you need an external receiver.

Well, after 60,000 miles with this, I'll write a detailed review when I get to my PC, but for now, I like the ETA, which was my original bane. It is highly customizable to your driving habits.

I can tell you this much in a nutshell though. It fails hard in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Chicago. It works fine for skirting these cities, but for inner-city navigation, it has proved utterly useless.

Good thread. Bought my 450 about 6 months ago. It has done all of the above one time or another. Always tries taking me off exits then back on the on ramp... crazy. Taken me through corn fields and farm roads. Taken me down no truck routes. Today in San Diego and Imperial Beach CA it failed miserably. Had to go 3 miles to find a place to turn around. sometimes takes me around in squares (circles) right back to where I started from. I never put an SD card in it... did I screw up? Does it need updates? I'm thinking if this is as good as it gets it's gonna get gone! I'm going in the sleeper and find the box, if the SD card is in it I'll shove it in the slot.

No SD card in box, only a USB cable.

There is no SD card. The program is loaded internally. Yes, if yours is 6 months old you should run an update using the CP Central app. They put out a map update a couple of months ago.

As far as your routing woes I can't comment on them without going over your exact truck settings and the beginning / ending locations of each trip. But if you get to a place where you have an hour or so to discuss then I'd be willing to check it all out with you. Just as an FYI.

Thanks Boss. I checked last night and no updates are available. Do I need to buy an updated map?

I reset all my options to the ones you suggested. Didn't go anywhere today except unload and to truck stop here in N Bakersfield. Maybe it will perform better with your settings.

The 450 and the 550 became more convoluted than the previous models in terms of where they put all of the menus. In my opinion they need to simplify their user interface so that there is less possibility that the driver is not using good settings. They added more features to it, but with them came deeper clicking menus to make sure you are using it correctly. However, once you successfully navigate all of that confusion in setup, it does give very solid truck routing.

Basically to check what it is currently using, click MENU | TRUCK | ROUTING PROFILES, and make sure that whatever profile it says in the "Select Routing Profile" box is one that you made and verified - NOT the one that is called "Default." If you aren't sure, then tap "Edit" and check all of the settings. These make a HUGE difference in routing.

I have an issue with mine...it freezes up and takes forever to reset, almost 2 days at times. will usually lock up when you try to reenter a trip or add multiple stops to a current trip, ect.

2 days to reset??? You should replace that one under warranty if that's the case. The number is 507-226-0042.

    .
Im trying to use an upload software I'm to be sent and see if that works, if it don't, they said id likely get it replaced as it would be a hardware issue. Biggest poc I've ever seen as far as it being close to getting you where you want to go. Advertises dock to dock, but won't get you dock to dock. Lucky if it gets you street to street!
