LaBubba Thanks this.

Zebra, as mentioned by others. Had e-logs for 2 years now, still use zebra for all other paperwork. Try to source them outside a truckstop. Just saw the IA 80 wants better than $5 for them!

I just use the ole reliable cheap black bic ballpoint... things last forever

Zebra's have a nice thin point that go through carbons more easy.

not4hire, CondoCruiser, LaBubba and 1 other person Thank this. -
Zebra, though I've been considering pulling the trigger on a Mont Blanc or some other nice pen. I just can't bring myself to pay nearly $1k for one. Yet.

I am using e-log now, but for almost 3 decades I used a #2 pencil. I have never used a pen to do a log. There is no requirement that a pen be used. The only requirement is that it be legible and that there be a carbon or NCR type copy. I went around several times with safety folks over this one and always won it. No one has ever been able to produce a FMCSA regulation that says and ink pen must be used. Technically, you could even use a crayon. But that might take away from the accuracy and legibility of the log page and that would be a violation. I have been checked by DOT untold number of times over the years, and never had one of them say anything about me using a pencil to do a log.
If the e-log breaks down, I will revert to a log book and my trusty pencil. -
I prefer to snap a chalk line, leaves a hell of a mess in the truck though....
