Put it this way OP I got three years experience and I'm just barely looking for a kind of gig like Pepsi. (Had some points to clear up).

Worked for coca cola for 11 year. Went back to swift and they considered experience at 4 lol. If pepsi a union shop, everything is done by seniority. You most like wont get a route. Just be filling in for guys routes that called in sick or vacation. You should work everyday since they should start getting busy. Put your time in

Dude pepsi is ltl...you have a way better shot at getting on with estes saia etc working for pepsi than otr.

Even if you did otr there is absolutely zero guarantee any ltl company will hire you.

Work for pepsi that's a no brainer.

I think you might be missing the bigger picture here...
Look at all the companies under the Pepsico flag, Lay's Potato chips, KFC, Taco Bell, Dorito's, Quaker Oats, etc. http://www.pepsico.com/Brands/BrandExplorer#top-global-brands
Once your in, you can always apply to the other divisions if you really feel the need to go OTR.

If the pay is good and with this benefits package from Pepsico, it's a no-brainer, especially with a family.
The benes list from Pepsico's website:
    Health and Insurance
Each year, you have the opportunity to choose the health and insurance benefits that are right for you and your family. You have choices in these areas:

    • Medical
    • Dental
    • Vision
    • Life insurance
    • Disability Insurance
    • Flexible Spending Accounts
    • Group Legal

    Wellness
PepsiCo provides you with tools and resources to help you achieve your health and financial wellness goals. Programs include:

    • Healthy Living will help you improve your health, achieve your individual goals, and make wellness a part of everyday life for you and your family.
    • Healthy Money will help you build a personal financial plan that fits your life and helps you stay on track for a financially secure future.

    Retirement
PepsiCo's savings and retirement benefits are designed to help you reach your future retirement goals. The plans are designed to work together and include:

    • Company-funded retirement benefit: A 100% PepsiCo paid benefit
    • 401(k) Plan: A savings plan with matching contributions from PepsiCo

401k matching? Free money. If you are already used to living frugally and can manage to continue to do so you can maximize your 401k savings. Sounds even better.

Take Pepsi gig. LTL likes drivers that know the city and has local delivery experience. You'll get put on p&d somewhere over a new grad. Pepsi on the resume looks good. Pepsi has tractor trailer drivers might want to transfer to that if you get an opportunity.
