Once again, read the post before you quote it! Did I say my feelings were hurt? You have an overinflated sense of yourself, what you think or feel about me really isn't that important to me. I merely was attempting to show you your intolerance of differing opinions and because you no intelligent points to support your viewpoint you decided to resort to slander and name-calling. Now who is the 3 year old???

There absolutly nothing wrong with a strong work ethic, in fact drivers seem to have the strongest work ethic of most professions. The fact that we work alone with no one lokking over our shoulder or making sure we do everything we are supposed to do when are supposed to do it and we still mange to get our jobs done safely and on time and are always willing to go above and beyond speaks volumes about our work ethic.
Btw, I dont care for this President or his party or their politics, so what does that have to do with our conversation? or were you ASSuming that I was a Democrat?
The point I was trying to make and I guess I failed was the good jobs are going away and if nothing changes, the next generation will be working for way less than we are. There will be no good jobs to get, no amount of proving yourself to an employer will matter. You've seen it, companies starting new drivers at lower and lower rates, pay raise freezes, benefits cut, etc... The standard was 1-2 weeks away from home, now they want 3-4 weeks out. Why do you object to drivers that want more? Do you have a vested interest in what ny employer pays me? Am I not allowed to voice my opinion just b/c it is different from yours?

I read it. Your spill about the guvment forcing Far-Out Billy out of a truck and all that other stuff you pick up from paranoid radio was duly noted. You were insinuating that he's going to lose his job, trying to spread fear. You then inform Far-Out Billy that he has absolutely no chance to make it as a trucker. Billy says that he will survive and that he aint skeered and that he doesnt need a good cry and a tissue.

Now if someone advised you to quit, they probably did so because of your bellyaches and fearful nature.

Yet even more name calling, but this time is because I live in Ohio??? I guess if I told you I had Polish roots, you would probably call me a dumb Pollock too, right?
Once again, a lack of an intelligent point to make to support your viewpoint and you sink to a lower level.
I'm done with this conversation unless you have something intelligent to offer worth responding to...Good day!

Whenever someone talks about meeting face to face because of a disagreement, it is a sign of weakness and emotional instability. Grow stronger.

You know , there can be some comparisons made between OTR drivers and people in the military although military couples make more sacrifices and deal with more hardships . I'd like to see Paddington walk up to a bunch of troops at an airport ready for deployment and say " You all must either be gay or have 400-lbs wildebeasts as wives/girlfriends. " Why else would they be willing to be gone over a year ?
But why does he say "must be gay .." Would gays not lack sex on the road also ? Does Paddington know something about availability of sex for gays we don't ?

Why should anyone make any intelligent points to you? You haven't listened to any of them yet, just continued to :biggrin_2553:.

truckerdave, don't know that I agree with all your points...but can't blame you for ending this discussion. The opposing side isn't discussing, just insulting. Can't take it any further when that happens.

What's with the lifestyle apologists comparing the military to trucking?
    Gimme a break!!!
Military doesn't put up with people not showering.
    Wearing mullets.
Dumping trash and pee bottles everywhere.
    Dodging child support payments.
    Not able to speak English.

The military is a professional organization with many opportunities for advancement:
You can go to college, become an officer, plus learn a skill/trade to serve you on the outside.
First dibs on cushy government jobs when you get out.
And a pension after 20 years of honorable service.

What do you get after 20 years of trucking?
    A bad back?
    Type-2 diabetes?
    An ex-wife?
Kids who don't know you cause you were on the road when they were growing up?

Anyone with brains stays away from trucking.
    Nothing but a dead end.

I can put fourth a new side to this, I grew up as a son of a truck driver, and I have a good relationship with my father. I spent some summers with him in the truck. Just because some guys drive OTR does'nt mean that they have bad relationships with they're children. My last job I was an industrial mechanic, I had to travel to and from powerplants. I never got paid for the time I was sleeping, or when I drove truck for them and had to grab a hotel room, never got paid to sleep then, and we were union. I'm not taking sides in this argument, I'm just adding my perspective. I personally would love to land a local job that pays good, and hopefully come spring I should have one, but I am willing to drive OTR if I need to.
