Not sure if you are aiming that at me or not but I get paid for everything I do period! I do not get paid to sleep just as I would not doing any other job. If I'm not on my 10 hr break I am getting paid. I don't work for free either. I make good money.
$ per hour worked..

I'm not aiming at anyone. It is my right to get every dollar I have coming to me. Just like I believe that you should be paid extra for the inconvenience of sleeping in your truck and eating on the road. You can phrase it anyway you way but you are or should be compensated for being there without option.
If you want trucking to get and be more fair to the driver it will only happen if they pay. Business only understands money... I do not run 48 states because they do not pay for my time, and again it's my choice but that is also my reason. -
That's the whole point. It's not an inconvenience to me. I prefer to be gone and not at home everyday. I've done the home everyday thing it ain't for me. I could be home everyday now if I wanted but I don't want to. As far as getting paid for being their without option I'm not. If I didn't want to be there I wouldn't have to be, I could be home everyday with my current company but choose not to be.
On this we agree. That's why I work for a company that pays me for what I do and don't try to steal from me. -
Do you get paid when you go home to sleep? I don't think you understand the OTR thing. Those of us who do and actually get PAID better than slave wages it's not a big thing to sleep in the truck. Only those who cant cut the OTR life complain about "pay while sleeping!"
It's a given when OTR you'll be sleeping either in the truck or motel/hotel room and having to FIND a vaciancy then set up a bag, break down my computer and then go in and then put it all back together in the AM is a total pain in the arse! I'll stay in the truck! But pay while sleeping Get real! Never happened, never will but with these nubies turning the key for less than .35CPM I guess you might have a point!outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
Some companies pay sleeper berth pay. I get $10.00 for every night in the truck. Its not much but adds up to a couple of thousand dollars a year.

No because I'm at HOME.
How difficult of a concept is this to comprehend?
Dunno about you, but I enjoy getting laid regularly.
And seeing my children more than every couple weeks or so.
Plus going out with my buddies, having a good time, drinking beer, going off-road, fishing, working on my house, fixing my car...all the things you can't do when live out of a truck and sleep on some deserted get-off ramp in the middle of nowhere.
And when you are sleeping in that truck, you are 100% responsible for the rig, the trailer, and the load. -

So get ANOTHER JOB! Nobody is forcing you to do it. If you don't like it quit trucking or get a job with a good company. Unbelievable.
ziggystyles and future driver Thank this. -
Your posts are complete nonsense . " sleep on some deserted get-off ramp in the middle of nowhere." That's ridiculous . There are a lot of jobs that involve traveling besides truckers . Are any of the others paid 24/7 ? That 100% responsible while sleeping is nonsense too .
Just stay home and be a good ole boy .outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
My sleeper is pretty darn comfortable, heated and A/C. I got a nice TV and laptop. I sleep like a baby in it. By the way I make pretty darn good money also. I just think that some of you aren't cut out for trucking. I waited until my daughter was 18 and my wife is pretty mature and can also deal with me being gone. We have a plan and that makes it easier. I would say if your under 30 and have a young family at home maybe this ain't the job for you.
outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
And how many of them sleep in a 8X10 fiberglass box where they're chastised for idling by the company and law enforcement in order to keep warm/cool and live somewhat like a human being?
How many have LEO's, hookers, JB Hunt recruiters, security guards, and people selling fake gold jewelry pounding on their sleepers?
Tell that to get guys I see every M-Thurs as I drive into work in the morning who are parked on the ramps since there's no place to park around here.
