Question for anyone,, In the OP's case, do they mean they they are also paying FSC (say for example $0.40) per EACH hundredweight?

Used to haul a lot of CWT freight. A lot of steel used to be priced that way. Hauled a lot .70c cwt steel loads from Chicago to Milw a long time ago and some $7.00 cwt to the west coast. If your sure the product is dense enough to get 40K or thereabouts just figure what rate per mile you want to bid and convert to cwt but make sure to ask for a minimum. You can get burned if you quote cwt and then they start light-weighting you.

A lot of steel is still shipped by the hundredweight with a min on it. The fuel surcharge is usually a percentage of the gross.
