I offer brokers 10% only, they dont like it call another broker!!!

 

Are you the one paying the freight bill, ie is it your product, or is it product you have bought and are sending a truck to pick it up? If the answer is no, and you are the carrier, then you have absolutely no idea how much was actually paid for the trucking. Just because a broker states he is only keeping ten percent as a brokerage fee, does not mean he is really only keeping that amount.

 

There's that federal provision isn't there?. Carriers can request the numbers from the shipper I thought, or the broker is supposed to furnish them if requested?

 

That is a misunderstood regulation. Only way they would have to show you what they are billing is if you have a % contract. Now they have to show you paperwork that applies to you but that is rather pointless considering that you are likely the one that provided that paperwork.

It really is more relevant if you lose a BOL and the broker won't pay you. Chances are they get paid without the paperwork or got a copy from the customer. So while filing on the bond you can request these documents.

 

Yep what Bill said. As a carrier you have no right to the invoice the broker sends the customer. however, if I understand the law right, the one passing the freight bill had a right to see how much the carrier was actually paid. Tho I'm no lawyer so could be wrong on this.
