Performance 3406E head gasket solution ??

    does this stop the liner recessing into the block or cracking a flange?

    That would be a false assumption, there have been performance HG companies that have looked at the factory gasket and said there wasn't room for improvement.

    HG don't fail because the gasket it bad.

    Yes as it ensures the liner wont start moving like with the factory gasket setup, a flange can still crack for any number of reasons, but with protrusion set properly there is no more risk of the flange cracking than stock setup.
