so back in june 2017 I got pulled over by nydot trooper who voided my os/od permit. I just received a letter from the district attorney saying he's willing to drop the charges if I can provide a copy of the permits.
I went back and checked my emails but couldn't find the copies since they get deleted automatically once moved to trash.
do the permitting company keep a record of the permits or can I contact the state and ask for copies?
any help is appreciated
permits question

You would at least need the permit number to even have a chance to get one from the state. I've never needed them (yet) but I have every permit going back to 2007. Been at my current company since then, and if we ever part ways and they don't want to verify my experience, I have my permits. I don't delete them, I file them online.
Sorry I can't help you, hand, but I was wondering...why did the diesel bear void your permit? -
Was moving a dozer, the blade was wider than i was told.my fault for not measuring it.

@zinita17601 Were you using a permit service or purchasing them state direct?

I’ve used comdata and they keep a record. I get a reference number and call them with it if I ever need a copy.

They most likely will have an electronic copy of the permits then.

You will most likely need date of issue, power unit tag number, company name and expect them to ask for more before they will look it up
It will probably have a fee involved too -
This is not going to help you with your current situation. But a little tip for the future as you move ahead. Of course keep in your files the actual permit, but in every truck I keep a small point and shoot digital camera, and a bunch of small SD cards. For every big job, lets say that it is moving a loader. I take photos of the loader before i touch it. Then of it chained down.
And then more of it at drop off. Also pictures of all documents like permits. Then i write the invoice number on the card and store it in a case. After a year or so I'll delete the pics and reuse the card for a new job. Put a small sticker on it with the new invoice number.
Then if anyone questions the condition or how was it chained, or about the permits pulled, it is right there in pictures.kylefitzy Thanks this.
