permits question

You can bill the broker if you want but it doesn't mean he will pay. Also probably won't pay you to sit two days either.

I can't speak for Brooklyn but in NY state, DE, MD, PA, VA I have done this this many times. In fact I often request a wider permit than what the broker tells me. HOWEVER, even though I have done it many times, I can't say that I have ever been inspected.

-Make sure the model number, serial number of the item you are hauling matches the permit (DOT might accuse you of using the permit twice for two different pieces).
-Make sure you are not over gross or over axle because 2 pcs makes it a divisible load.
-Make sure you have no rear over hang because 2pcs makes it a divisible load
-What states do you have escorts for? No escorts req'd for NY, PA at 12'-0". I forget the others right now.

 

It's too late now I'm sure, but don't reorder New York City. That permit takes 48 hours, and you'll still need the escorts. You might want to check the VA permit or city permits and see if the escort can be dropped there, if needed. Then it might make sense to reorder those. I always permit for max width before penalties start bring tacked on like more miles, escorts, etc. I booked a 13'+ wide load from FL to TX a couple years ago from a known to me shipper. I show up and the load is 11' wide. As I'm measuring my escort shows up. He gets TONU, I cancel AL escort, and reorder permits and pocket the rest of the escort money. It worked out for me, but how is somebody's tape 2 feet off?
