Did you do all the online classes to get PC given to you?

I'm with LS. I use PC rarely. Like I'm doing a 34 and want to get food or groceries. You cant advance a load with it. You cant go get a load with it. I'm not a 100% sure if you can go home with it after working a week out on the road. Your not advancing anything at that point. Your not going to get something either. So it's not work related. Or you just wait till the next day.

Like I said, pretty easy to not sign a lease if the terms aren’t agreeable.

I think PC is the most confusing aspect of driving a CMV. Leave it to the gov't to confuse the hell out of everyone and then cite them for abusing the confusion.

Some, I believe, misinterpret "home terminal" to mean THEIR HOME. It doesn't. Unless you live and work at the same location, then it's not the same place. There are people on this forum that will tell you that you can't PC TO YOUR HOUSE as a company driver with a completely undispatched CMV to go on home time. They are wrong about this. Because PC is legal for EVERYTHING that is not a benefit to the carrier and is for YOUR PERSONAL BENEFIT. Since taking your empty trailer home with you to go home does not benefit anyone but you, PC is fine.

What they mean by this is, for example, my company has a yard in Houston. That's the closest company yard to my house. I can't go grab a load, deliver it in Dallas, and PC back to Houston empty. That would be my "home terminal" because it's the closest company yard to my house. But if I return on duty to Houston and am going on home time, of course I can PC to my house FROM my home terminal to my house.

As far as advancing a load, I spoke with an actual CMV enforcement officer with the Texas DOT. Now, these are HIS opinions, but this was HIS job too. He's the one who'd write you the citations. What he said he didn't want to see was a CMV driver on PC loaded driving by tons of POSSIBLE parking spots and you not going look to see if something is available. Since modern GPS will show the path of your truck, he wanted to see you drive through the parking lot to make sure there were no spots. And then go find the next spot. You are not required to drive BACKWARDS from where you need to go to find parking. Because the "closest available parking spot" only would be logical if its on your intended route because if it's not, then by definition, its not the "closest" since you aren't going that direction. There is no way for you to know the parking situation around your truck in 360 degrees at 2am. All you can do is depart, and hit EVERY possible truck stop and parking place along your route until you find a place. At that point you are not trying to advance the load, you're trying to find parking. However, once you do this, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A FULL 10 HOUR BREAK. You CANNOT use the PC time, add it to your break, to make 10 hours. That is a violation. But the Elogs will let you do it. Don't get caught doing this.

It’s for personal use of the truck as like car. You can go get something to eat or do laundry or go to the movies. Go to motel anything you want on your personal time off. You start going 50 or 100+ miles you have to be able to explain why you drive 100 to go get food. There is no mileage limit but will a DOT believe you drove 100 to a McDonalds. Ha ha

Maybe there is a special steakhouse you like or you going to the beach or clothes shopping.

I was having a “shower thought” moment a few weeks ago about our driving exemption and freedom.

Now that we are tracked 100% of the time while in a CMV. I wish PC (you can call it something else) was something we could use, as we see fit. Following the proper rules & guidance of not being fatigued and fit to drive. And I agree, if you used to to drive lets say an extra 3 hours that night, you must take a full 10 afterwards.

Ohhh how beautiful it would be. Would alleviate so much headache/ traffic/parking situation

I wish the supposed pro trucker entities out there would argue for this exemption to be implemented.

PS- I dont want to hear your nonsense about my dispatcher forcing me to drive, and “ppl will abuse it” bs arguments. Save it.

Make America believe in Freedom again.

So, for example if I get a motel room and I want to go to Walmart that is near the motel, that would be proper use of PC to go to Walmart and go back to the motel?

Yes. If you can do it in an Uber it's legit PC.
