I'm the Mom of a 21~yr-old trucker-to-be. As long as his car is at our house we have keep it on our insurance and be on the title. If you keep the car there pay the extra insurance and for all the reasons stated that would be best. Parents can keep car safe, start it up once in awhile, and have it for a backup if their car is in the shop. I'd think even a single trucker would like to have their own place to crash once in awhile and then you'd have a car to use.

Good luck on your new career. Sounds like you're getting mentally prepared and have a good attitude.

Heh, trust me during your hometime the last thing you want to do is drive. While I am out on the road I think about the places I can drive to in my car. Then when I get home I say "screw that!" and watch TV.

I can understand that, but that is not me. I can get home and within the first hour be wanting to fire up a bike or hop in the car and wanting to go somewhere.

If if convince myself I need to get things done around the house, I need the car to run errands.

Yes I do too. But as far as traveling for fun in your car after driving 3000+ miles per week and having a short time to enjoy being home you will not travel across states in your car.

Who said anything about traveling across states? I mean, I can see if you live near a city center, in a city with good public transport, and have easy access to the things you need without having to go far, but that's not everyone's situation.

Keep the car and get one of these to keep the battery charged:

I highly reccomend them. Especially for cars left at the terminal, where finding a "jump" from someone might take a while, when you don't have a lot of time. Especially in winter.

Do what I do. Park my pickup at terminal. Then drive home from there....mainly do it that way though because no where to park my rig
