I love driving, so it feels pretty much like I get paid to fish and drink beer.
I make in a week what I was making in a month of hard 60-80 hour weeks... with 6 months experience and a lot of good advice. I guess I'm just a believer in the free market. My time is worth what the market says it is. If I disagree I can take my time somewhere else. If I can't find what I feel like my time is worth, the market has spoken. Adjust my expectations or adjust my career trajectory.
Then again, I also live within my means. I don't expect this lifestyle to make me wealthy or even financially well off. My expectations have been exponentially exceeded. Right now I'm doing what I hoped to do when I retire, and probably will do when I retire... I'm driving the country and seeing the sights. Somehow I get paid for it.
Perspective.

"Randomly"
I have asked guys I went to school with if they get tested every week or two and they haven't been tested in like 6 months lolDC818, Lepton1, rank and 1 other person Thank this. -
Believe it or not I have not been tested for drugs outside of the usual pee test for employment.
Now I test monthly, part for medicines I take and part to make sure my Kidney and Liver did not start breaking down. Im so over it.
I remember one who took a misstep in the office waiting on his load. He staggered and two people showed up One to drive the van and him to the doctors and the other to collect and test the sample. On the spot. One of the 15 or so dispatchers must have called it in. -
I'm one of the rare birds that actually believes it's truly a "random". I could be wrong though. Lol.Last edited: May 11, 2017

@redrover - the perspective you provide is your own. If you're satisfied with it: good on you, man. If some of the guys here aren't satisfied with it and want to berate you and speak down... well, tough #### to them. Misery loves company; most truckers are miserable.
I won't argue with you. You know what works for you. It isn't the same that works for me, but I can see your 'perspective'. Understand that it comes in many varieties. There isn't a 'right' way anymore.rank, G13Tomcat, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I just like being on the road cause you're not about to get yelled at every minute. I don't know any other job I ever had that didn't have that!
x1Heavy Thanks this.
