i will always prefer the "traditional style" of a long nose tractor. the brand new 389 will make friends who like traditional looks over areodynamics.
it will always be "traditional style/looks" over areodynamics for me.

I used to be the same but when they are repoing that pretty truck it's a different story. I had 6 379 petes in 1996 plus a few people leased to us. We still couldn't make it work in the long run. Next time around I'l take every advantage I can get and if that means driving an ugly aero truck then so be it. Like I said, I have a wife and kid to worry about these days, it's not just me anymore or I would have a big ol 379 or w900 for sure

I have operated both a 387 and a 379. I absolutely DESPISE the 387 buble truck. To quote another TMC driver "The 387 is a moose of a truck" It doesn't turn very well, it has very few power outlets, the closets are too far forward restricting motion of the seats, water leaks in various places, in high winds the doors will bend to let the wind through. . . Too many things to list. I'll keep my 379 thank you. I also see two to three tenths of a mile per gallon improvement in fuel economy in the 379 wind catcher over the 387 aero buble truck. This is pulling flatbed, so the tall 387 is pushing a lot more air than necessary, kind of like pulling a van.

that's definatly not a truck you'd want to pull a flatbed with. If I pulled somethign like a flatbed or car trailer I'd buy a 379 in a heartbeat.
That said though I wouldn't buy the 387 either. it's way overpriced compared to the t2000 from what I'v seendavid07003 Thanks this. -
I am like Rawlco, I have owned both the 387 and now a 379. As far a dependablity, I was satisfied, I mean after all, it's still a Pete. Aside from that I hated it. Just like Rawlco said, no turning radius, wind noise because someone thought it would be a great idea to mount those elephant ear mirrors on the door instead of the body, and at certain truck washes, water would come through the air ducts into the floorboard. To me, nothing beats a 379 Pete, but that's just me. I make the payments, so that's all that matters.

Since not to many here are fans of the 387, I guess what i think isn't real important...but I'll leave my two cents anyway....I have seen 379 sell for as little as $10,000...so not all of them retain a high resale value...That is to say..how well did you take care of your truck?...the 387 is NO different.... And in your mind if you can justify an extra $10,000 -$12,000 a year in full costs...cool... I can't...It takes awhile to warm up to a 387, But with more space, newer motor better fuel mileage...Its the truck for me....and there are many different 387's with different spec's....Find one with O/O spec's..And you won"t be sorry..Some guys just love the traditional look,,and they will pay for it too.
