I'll trade "cult coolness" for comfort and quality any time...

here here black w9!!! i agree whole heartedly!!!!!! comfort and QUALITY trumps supposed "cult coolness" any day...i want to know why the morons that designed the pete sleeper with the full door instead of a separate one for the side box and sleeping area???? never has made sense to me..

I have never been able to figure that one out...We were parked next to a Pete in Kansas the other day and the wife asked me about the big door and why they set it up so that every time you need to get into the side box you had to open the sleeper.

I told her that it was just one more design flaw in a truck that is chock full of design flaws.:biggrin_2559:

Blackw900 lets get one thang staight here..
If you were offended by what I posted earlier then I apoligize, but I don't remember getting critical, so you could be a bit too sensitive for this discussion..

Trying to convince people of your [379 is a "flawed design" theory] shows your insanity.. It's hilarious since you seem to be serious, so keep up the madness..
And to be honest with you, the "design flaws" you are upset about don't interest me anyway..

I don't value trucks in terms of luxurious, roomy, and having comfortable features that some drivers may prefer, and don't appreciate anybody describing my rig as such.. So thanx..
I like the old school look inside and out with some stainless steel and chrome.. Can't stand trucks that have the features of a motor home..

I don't want the accomodations of cooking, eating, bathing, deficating, or living in my truck.. That's what restaraunt, hotels, roadside parks and going home are for..
I don't support the influence that computers and the geeky "tech wizards" have had on trucks since 1994 either, so I mostly ignore and avoid trucks that have electronic engines..

Things like Pete fuel tanks, the simple design of the clutch arm, the smooth looking single door sleepers, the style battery boxes and steps, aluminum hoods with simple replacement fenders and headlights and brackets, mirror location, and many other charecteristics of older model Pete is what I like about them..
But to each his own, I'll try to at least humor your thoughts:

I ain't no midget.. You must be overgrown.. ####, the seat can slide plum back into the sleeper in a Unibuilt.. :laughing3:
I've heard of regular sized people crashing their petes before because they lean the seat back so far they can't see how to drive..
Seems a big fella like you would have more trouble just fitting through cab doors.. :laughing3:

Can you imagine the nightmares.. The endless possibilities.. Forget about the trucks themselves.. There might have never been the Peterbilt trucks that we know today if not for their brilliant advertising and marketing stategy of their slogan.. "Class Pays"..

You must be an absolute genius.. :smt033
You're the only person who even knows about all this.. Most people think of the W900A as the best looking truck ever built by any manufacturer..
Can you imagine the disappointment upon finding out they were wrong all this time.. Sigh.. :smt064
Oh, and by the way, can you tell me who has the best spec'ed Pete out there?? I'd like to know just in case I see it somewhere I'll be able to recognize it.. :-D

This is all very shocking news to me!!!!!
What exactly is Paccar.. Alot of people have never heard of them..
I always thought they were just a parent company that had owned different brands of trucks as well as other things over the years.. So considering KW and Pete seperately was wrong I guess.. :laughing7:

Well that's good.. I guess the feller with skirts don't need any extra weight, he just needs some extra room in his sleeper eh.. ####.. :smt078

You must not travel very far then.. For the best ultimate tight spots you should try NYC or New Jersey..

Sorry, but it sounds like your wife doesn't want to hurt your feelings.. She's obviously not satisfied with your's or she wouldn't have been interested in your buddy's to begin with..
You're understanding of women is almost as bad as trucks.. :banghead:

Finally, we can agree on something at last..
What is it exactly in your opinion that makes a clutch pedal "premium"?? Since the transmission is right under there, and your two other necessary pedals are located in this general area of the floorboard also, it makes perfect sense to me.. :idea1:
According to you this must stand the test of time.. Success clear back to 1940's pickup trucks..:smt075

This last outburst makes it real obvious what's causing your hatred and contempt for other trucks.. Sounds like your little lady's interested in Peterbilt trucks and here you are with a KW..
You're obviously insecure about it.. The desperation is exposed by your bashing and it doesn't help KW or your situation one bit.. :violent1:
If you accepted the way things actually are instead of using your imagination so much :smt017 this nonsense wouldn't have happened in the first place.. :smt120

Theres is adjustment to help the turning radius on W900s ( any truck ) , factory settings are not to everyones liking.

I had W900s and PETE 379s and with the exception of 1 W900 FROM HE## only thing I hated was the lack of space between the seats , on my 2nd WESTERN STAR and loads more cab space and have had good service out of them.

    Offended by what?

I don't like Pete's, You don't like KW's...I simply stated a few of my reasons.

Of course they don't...Pete guys like Harley guys just hang onto the old tired stuff because they're loyal to a name rather than a quality product...I can say whatever I want about Harleys because I have a couple, But I have no misconceptions about the inherent design flaws in them...I just like them!

    Just like you and Peterbilt.

I wasn't aware of any motorhome like fetures in my truck...But I'll look to see if I missed any.

To each his own...What you like I don't, I suppose I can live with that.

But it certainly did freak you out when I had something bad to say about the Peterbilt truck that you seem to adore...

It was a great "looking" truck...I know, I had one. But it was not a very comfortable truck and the cab was too small and the A/C was marginal (at best) but it was the best truck on the road in it's day but that ended back in 1982 which was the last year for the W900A model.

Wrong about what? Do you think KW made al the design changes because they just got bored and decided to spend a ton of cash on engineering and retooling just for something to do?

    No!

They responded to customer input and made a roomier, better truck with a quieter, sturdier cab and better heating and A/C among many other improvements.

I loved my W900A but I don't miss it and I wouldn't trade my W900L for two new ones just like it because it just wasn't a great truck by todays standards.

    Nobody....They're all about the same.:biggrin_2559:

PACCAR is the parent company of both Peterbilt and KW and were KW before they aquired Peterbilt...

Nah...I'm scared to run more than 30 miles from the house so I just drive up and down my street 11 hours a day.:biggrin_2559:

That's pretty lame...But when a guy runs out of valid points he always seems to wind up sayin' stuff like this...So, I expected it.

Most modern trucks have a swing pedal that doesn't require a hole in the floor that leaks heat, noise and whatever else decides to come through.

But of course since it has stood the test of time, It must be good enough.

Maybe we ought to bring back the 220 Cummins and the two stick transmission and air wipers and a fan instead of A/C...I mean, They stood the test of time too.:biggrin_25523:

There you go again...Out of valid points!:biggrin_2559:

And again...Still out of valid points!:biggrin_2559:

So then I only imagined that I like KW's more than Pete's and I have to accept that instead of liking the trucks that I like I have to accept the fact that I really like what I don't really like and that I don't really like what I like and in order to believe all of this I have to use my imagination?

    What nonsense?

And why do you guys all sit on the floor?
