Does anybody know if a Galaxy 959 will fit in the 389's cubby hole that the factory cobra's come in?

Im buying a new pete and wondeing if I should get it with that cubby they have or if I should just get it with the old style flat plate they've had for years.

I like the old-style flat plate better.
The cubby hole limits your options as well as your ventilation capabilities.

Sounds good. So I guess its best to order up with no CB, antennas, or coax. And then just run everything myself.

What are your thoughts on the maxrad or NMO style antenna's? Im thinking one for the CB and then one for a VHF as I do run canada some.

I suppose performance would be based on your mounting location. I have nmo Mount antennas on the roof of my SUV and they work great but I'm not sure what kind of performance you would get out of a tractor trailer

I would do a center roof mount but I will be running roof mounted air horns and a standup sleeper so probably just do mirror mounts for them. I kinda want a balanced look to the antennas and not sure an antenna for CB will work with VHF.

Yes a 959 will fit in there but any other export like a Styker or any with fins on the back will not,me personally I'd get one without the hole and go old school.

Just have to take the mic off , put the CB in then put the mic back on. Is tricky but can be done.

Thanks guys. I made up a diamond plate mounting plate and spaced it down from the plastic factory plate in my company 386 so I guess I will plan on using it in my 389 when I get it ordered up.
