Not a mechanic, but I've heard you need to clean the holes in the little opening that the sensor sits in. If they are still plugged with soot the new sensor won't give accurate readings.

It was showing reading below normal are shorted to low. Code 4154 active. This will eventually put me in the 5 mph derate mode. I have the cummins insight so i can get past that but i need this fixed before it causes other problems.

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) captures and burns off soot. The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR, similar to a catalytic converter in a car) along with the DEF system reduces NOx. Wondering if you replaced the correct sensor.

I fixed it. I ended up having to change the Ammonia sensor as well. Its control module sends heat to the NOx sensor heating it up when the engine starts.
