PETERBILT... Got no problem with a Kdubya , well just one... This may not bother most of ya but, I cant stand how the floor comes up behind the pedals.... Cant stretch my legs out, may only be a problem for the full figured driver like myself.. O, I mainly run day cabs and dumps so you can only side er back so far... Get rather envious when i get passed by a large car near the end of the day and all you can see of the driver is some hands and elbows... and yep Black Dog Paccar owns both of em..
Mooch Thanks this. -
Thats one problem of many in my opinion. Don't you just love how the heater ductwork comes out at your right foot, making it sweat and your left foot is freezing along with your leg? Also don't care for the dash and how far you have to reach just to flip a switch or see a gauge.Mooch Thanks this.

The price difference new isn't as big as most people think. Problem is most people try and compare a FL with a detroit, 10spd, small driveline ect to a KW or Pete with a Cat (Cat was 5k more than the Cummins when I ordered my last truck so no matter if anyone thinks which is the best brand, price is price) 13 or 18spd, big driveline ect. If you spec them exactly the same there is less difference than you'd think. And I mean exactly the same Dana Spicer axles (no Meritor) same suspension capacity, Alcoa wheels (not accuride) apples to apples. It's just hard to do since most FL's sitting on the lot were ordered to be cheap. Go to any dealer looking for a FL with a Cummins or Cat and a transmission bigger than 10spd and you'll find maybe 3 out of 50. Friend bought a Columbia with a 525 N14, 18spd. It was like finding a needle in a fleet truck haystack. Which by the way ironically he traded for a W900L. (Must have made too much extra money with the FL so he needed to burn through it
) The W900 was a POS so he dumped it for a Classic XL and loves it.
What parts? I'm sure some things are more but I'm not sure what parts you would buy on a regular basis that would affect the life long cost of the truck. I mean I can't think of any truck brand specific parts that I buy regularly. I had a rash of heater fan's die but their made by climatec (spelling) which is the same that's in a friends FL Classic. I'm not saying that there are no KW/Pete parts that cost more but I can't think of any that would effect the overall cost of ownership. -
Yeah , Les2 I forgot about that one.. but that still beats the heater boxes on the old RDs i cut my teeth on... Still have a dent and bruise on my right shin, and it been alot years since i drove one of them.. But in Macks defence they wernt ment to be fancy just idiot proof... well sept for the du or tri plex.... Very fun to watch a greenie straight outa school drive one .. or try to..

I like the KW for their studios. Roomier compared to any Volvo, Freightliner or International. The dash layout is great. I will say my friends 99 379 has less problems and rides better than any freightliner he has owned.

That's just the ride around some lot. Spend more than 2 or 3 hours in a truck you'll see the real ride. Oh btw that 8 bag suspension is the cats meow for highway.

The 8 bag is great on a tractor but, on my buddies W900L tri axle dump thats another story... rode and handled great empty.. put a load on it and wow .. you never stop swayin .. pull up to a stop light loaded and the truck wont stop rockin till yer goin again.. and lean in a curve... good greif... I'm plenty used to air ride dumps (thats all i have) and the handling quirks, but man does that 8 bag on that set up take some gettin used to.... He liked his 8 bag but its just differnt than my air trac... So yall dont think im crazy.. long hood air ride tri axle dumps are the norm in my neck of the woods...
