We are family....a dysfunctional family!
You can either PM or email rmuck(AT)huntertrucksales.com and I'll run the specs and quote. -
I am just modifying my spec, and hopefully in a couple of days I will have it and I will send it over.
Until, I have queston. I want to go crazy for the best possible fuel economy, and I am considering the Meritor Fuelite tandem (6x2). I know Dana have this configuration too, but for me it must be Meritor, because only they have the 2.5 ratio what I need for the direct drive transmission. Although every truck manufacturer have it as an option except Paccar. However according to a recent information from the Meritor district manager Peterbilt already has it. Can you confirm this for me please? -
I will confirm the Meritor option as it does not yet appear in PROSPECTOR as an available setup.. The Dana S23-190 with tag is available with a 2.57 ratio that would require engineering approval by the powertrain engineers but should be doable.
What engine are you looking at and what rating? -
Cummins ISX 15, 450hp, 1550/1750 torque. The 2.57 is still slow, and I found only 2.63
-
I will confirm the ratio choices. For your application the "SmartTorque" option from Cummins would work well, gives you extra 200 Lb/Ft torque without requiring transmission/driveline upgrades. Would help pull the grades with your tall gearing.
Oram Thanks this. -
I will have high gear ratio, but I will have direct drive transmission, so my RPM at 60 will be 1280. By the way, I have just learned the Dana highest ratio is 2.53, which is good enough. But still I am not sure, I will go with the 6x2

Im picking up a new PB on Monday. A 389 with 500 Cummins. In addition, I was approved for a second truck.
I've been spec'ing a 579. Im thinking perhaps I should just purchase another 389 now.
It would certainly be interesting though to see what kind of mpg i would get from both trucks.
Right now, my 2007 Western Star has been getting 4.6 mpg. Last year, maintenace set me back just over $44,000. Thats why I thought I would try the PB. What I liked about my Western Star was the space between the seats, not close together like the 389.
I did not know the 579 was hard on the steers. I have some serious thinking to do.
