P.S. My first assigned truck had a 48" flattop sleeper and actually had a "cutout" to get into the sleeper--it was not a walkthru/integrated type.

i survived at the time. i think partially due to the fact that this sleeper was actually more comfortable than the bed i had at home at the time---my feet were off the bed because i could not afford to buy a new one at the time, and this was the same bed i had since age 12. So, i guess what i'm trying to say is not only can i adapt to small spaces, i actually thrive in them. (maybe).

But, were getting a little off-topic here; i will continue with my thoughts concerning truck styling later, which ties in with the general mentality of society at large.

I dont think we getting much off topic here, its interesting what you are saying because I'm coming from poverty too and your story sounds familiar. One thing I recall was our mind blowing family vacations where we would go in our tiny car. My father would pack EVERYTHING in it so we would be independent for 2-3 weeks and could enjoy incredible beaches of Baltic Sea every single year which otherwise we couldn' afford. Thats how my sleeper contains tools, spare parts, filtered water, 2 fridges filled with home-cooked healthy food and so on. Heck, I just realized how much I have learned on those badaxx family vacations...

Well, then i think another key is to not be claustrophobic. As i kid i used to love climbing in cubbards/closets etc. with a flashlight and reading, listening to music etc. So maybe the adult me is just wanting to do this on a slightly larger and more profitable scale---the sleeper has become the closet. The point is, i'm very comfortable in small spaces provided i have at least one, but preferably all, of the following:

    1) a good library of books
    2) TV(i would say 21" would work) and or internet tv
    3) internet(very important)
    4) i am working on getting a PS3 or equivalent.

Also, if the sleeper has good sound insulation, and is dark then it basically works for me.

    But back to Kw+pete design.

i feel feel kw has fallen to mediocrity(which seems to be the underlying trend in society these days) and pete is not far behind.

You can still buy a 38" modular sleeper from KW. All the cramped cab and sleeper you miss from yesteryear.

Maybe it's me, but this 587 looks just like the 387, no?

No way, I've got 2 W900L daycabs with 215" wheelbase and a T800 with 190". There's no way I'd want a W900 at 180", hood would be longer than the rear frame. Anything with a pin deeper than 18" would take out the sleeper.:biggrin_25523:

    X2

We've got one (and have had 3 total) W900L's with 36" aerocab sleepers. (not modular) They were never used as beds only as an extension to a daycab. (ordered before KW offered the extended daycab).

I was thinking the same thing... you would have to release the 5th wheel from inside the sleeper with that kind of wheelbase hahahaha. here is one of our petes at 245" wheelbase and a 36" sleeper. i would like to see a kenworth with 180"wheelbase with a sleeper

Guys I have done coast to coast in a 38 in flattop and it is not fun. No room to get dressed in the morning forget about that 21 in TV no room for it best I did was a flip down dvd player off of the one shelf. After 4 or 5 days a guy is #### sure ready to get out and stretch.

Concerning the wheelbase posing potential problems:

i was talking about a w-900B, not A. They still make W-900B's right?

    Think Sonny Pruitt's truck.

In other words i don't really like or want the long hood; i want the short hood.
