They’ve cancelled ours, too. I’m in a “late model” 2013 with over 750k on it. It starts and drives, all I could really ask for.

I don’t have a passenger seat. No upper bunk but no cabinets either. Isn’t really any more ‘roomy’ but the extra floor space is good for some extra floor storage.

I have friends in flat top sleepers that still carry 90% of what I carry. You’re either in the truck or the sleeper. Not both. You can’t take the house with you but you can still be very comfortable OTR.

Me too, sadly times are tough and we could only afford red axles. 0FFEDF42-1789-4769-832E-12D3AAE4BFE3.jpeg

Would you prefer length of sleeper, height of sleeper, or both?

I went from a VNL670 (61” bunk) mid-roof to a T680 76” condo. Truthfully, I’d be good with the T680 52” mid-roof. I don’t need all the cabinets and length of what I have. My cleaning products, clothes bag and backpack I bring could easily go under the bunk or in the overheads of the 52”. The wheelbase and larger turning radius of this KW can be a pain, compared to the Volvo.

I’d bet 10 cents no matter what cab it has its more comfortable than my ol 91. You can have comfort or cool but not both. Comfort isn’t as big a deal to me because I get through the house. I’ll still dead head a 1000 miles home rather than lay over if I’m a mind to head to the house. Now if I told a man I’d load then lay over it is. I’m either workin eatin or sleeping if I’m away from home. I lounge at home not out on the road. Now I get that my whole operation is dated from the equipment to the day to day operation. However it still works for me so I’m gonna keep on till it don’t. I’ll be honest this 589 is way closer to a Peterbilt than anything I thought we would have at the announcement of the end of the 389.

Do we have any other potential photos of the new design? I won't pretend to know what is photo shopped or not. If the photos that are out there are the new design, I'd take it.

Spot on. If this is the new 589 then we are very lucky. It still holds on to plenty of what the 379/389 is.

I have a 60” stand up now which is more then enough for me, when Uncle Sam tells me park that antique in the barn and get something newer I’ll go with the 48” flat top, bed and a closet is all I really need and the fridge is nice to have for local or the road.

unless for some reason i decide I want to stay out more, then I’ll probably go with a ~110”

If this is true then I don’t hate it but I’ve still yet to hear anything official from paccar about the 389 even ending

That's where I also have a question. I don't recall Paccar coming out and saying the 389 was ending. Now, I see moves being made that would make it seem like that is occurring but nothing else. You would figure, Paccar would have to be announcing soon closing out 389 production to be within legal reporting requirements as a publically traded entity. The unions that are also involved in driving rivets into 389s would also want to know exactly what it is they will be doing, if not making 389s.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
